“Savage Seduction” is a fantastic episode! It’s full of wit, hilarity, and heart. It has everything you could ever want in an episode of Warehouse 13, especially given these are the final episodes of the series. We learn how a new artifact is created, how well (or not) our beloved agents speak Spanish, and see a whole new side of one our agents. And bonus, one case is wrapped up in telenovela style — ¡Ay, caramba!

Boys Will Be Frat Boys

Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) and Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) on a case involving Charlie Battes (guest star Lovell Adams-Gray), a college student whose back breaks in the middle of his presentation. According to Professor Moulton (Craig Eldridge) a strange shadow came through the wall, slamming into Charlie, breaking his back in three places. If this doesn’t smell like an artifact, I don’t know what does. This event reminds me of Peter Pan’s shadow, but this is not a case of Peter Pan and his Lost Boys, it’s something a bit stranger.

It seems Bryce (guest star Jeremy Ferdman) is in possession of an artifact, a candle that burns at both ends. When guys pledge to his fraternity, they sort of split into two versions of themselves – the party hard guy and the dedicated student. But when the party boy overdoes it and passes out — or in Charlie’s case, falls off a bridge onto the top of a car — the shadow of the injured version jumps into the other version of themselves.

In trying to neutralize the candle, Jinks gets whammied, and his alter ego comes roaring out. Jinks is gay but he doesn’t like to show his feminine side too often. When he gets the wrong end of the candle, Jink’s other side decides it’s time to party! I really appreciate Ashmore’s ability to reinvent himself completely into this flamboyant version of his character. Claudia fiercely loves her gay bestie’s alter ego but knows this side of Jinks is always there, just pushed down for self-preservation.

After all is said and done, Claudia and Jinks save the day, neutralize the candle, and that’s all, “beeotch!”

Seducción Salvaje (Savage Seduction)

Now, let’s dive into the hot and steamy version of this episode.

L-R: Armando/Pete tries to get answers from Doña Fausta after someone tries to kill her; meanwhile Carmen and her mother Alicia are acting suspiciously.

Pete (Eddie McClintock) gets a visit from ex-girlfriend Kelly (guest star Paula Garcés). Kelly needs both Pete and Myka’s (Joanne Kelly) help with her grandmother Hortencia (guest star Teresa Yenque). “My grandmother’s TV is possessed.” Kelly’s former relationship with Pete gives her the inside knowledge that Pete and Myka are the only people who can help her. When Pete and Myka show up at Kelly’s grandmother’s house, the TV is emitting a strange glow; then suddenly, Hortenia appears in the television as a character in her favorite telenovela, “Seducción Salvaje.”After the cat jumps into the television, the how Hortencia got in there is answered but the question remains, how do they get her out before her character, Doña Fausta (Teresa Yenque), is murdered!? Que music.

Armando/Pete and Maribel/Myka have an undeniable attraction…but there love (at least in the telenovela) is forbidden.

I absolutely loved “Savage Seduction.” From Pete’s not-so-great Spanish to his ridiculously wonderful fake mustache, “Savage Seduction” is a fun and lively episode that treats Warehouse 13 fans to a spicy drama, or as Armando (Eddie McClintock) would say, “delicioso teatro.” Because it is a telenova, most of the drama is fake but the underlying clues about Pete being in love with Myka and vice versa are there. As much as I don’t want to see these two thrown together, I think it’s inevitable. Pete and Myka have always had a unique bond but but I am concerned about them becoming romantic. “Savage Seduction” is one of the final episodes in the series and I guess the writers had to speed up the romance. If we had a normal 13-episode season, we might have seen their love blossom over time rather than in hyper-speed.

The broach Hortencia receives from the network that airs the telenovela is the artifact. Hortencia, a widow who’s latched onto a television series for comfort, has imbued the broach with powers to transport her into her favorite show. But, with the show being canceled, Hortencia’s character Doña Fausta is about to be killed unless Pete and Artie (Saul Rubinek) can do something about it. Myka would help but she and Kelly were accidentally sucked into the television. Now Myka is the maid Maribel and Kelly is Carmen, the ruthless and very pregnant granddaughter of Doña Fausta. The cat fights between Maribel and Carmen scintillating. The face slapping, the name calling, it’s all so juicy! In order to stay themselves, Artie and Pete use an artifact, the cufflinks belonging to Harvey Korman who is infamous for never staying in character. The way the special effects people dramatize how the artifact works is hilarious. A strong breeze washes over whoever has possession of the cufflink or whoever passes on the cufflink to another. The way the breeze ruffles Armando’s mustache…each time is a must see moment.

Armando/Pete and Maribel/Myka reveal to Doña Fausta that her son Colonel Rafael Obregon/Artie is not dead.

Artie is Colonel Rafael Obregon, the son Doña Fausta thought was dead. He returns because he knows the dark secret Carmen and her mother Alicia (guest star Sonia Braga) share.” Maribel’s mother Maria (guest star Barbara de la Fuente) also returns from the dead to stop Maribel and Armando from making a terrible mistake. GASP! Seriously, it’s so horrible, it can only be in a soap opera episode!

Overall

“Savage Seduction” gives us the best of Warehouse 13. We get a normal-ish case with Claudia and Jinks at the college campus, and then we get a bit of Latin flavor with a spicy telenovela version of an artifact case. Surprisingly, “Savage Seduction” does leave us with a bit of a cliff hanger. With only two episodes left in this final season, I like this surprise. Who took Claudia’s sister Claire (guest star Chryssie Whitehead)? And now that Kelly reveals to Pete why it would have never worked for them, will he follow his heart and tell Myka how he feels?

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
