Interview – The Road Within (Director Gren Wells, Actors Robert Patrick and Robert Sheehan)

On a very warm, sunny Tuesday morning, I drove over to West LA for a coveted sit down interview for the newly released film The Road Within all by myself. I didn’t have to share the room with other journalists (who were all sitting in the next room waiting for their turn) – it was just me sitting across from director Gren Wells, and actors Robert Patrick and Robert Sheehan. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. For those of you who know me, when I get nervous, my southern accent comes out. Having trained my voice over the years due to a variety of reasons, I try to keep my southern drawl out of the limelight and use what I call my “professional voice.” Sadly, being in the room with these three, one of them being a well-known, iconic actor, I lost my proverbial shit and couldn’t contain my nerves enough to tame my dialect. Hello, I was in the same room with Robert friggin’ Patrick – Terminator 2! I digress.

Meeting Robert Patrick, Robert Sheehan, and Gren Wells was amazing!

As we all got cozy, I expressed—off camera, of course—my apologies for my nervousness and subsequent thick southern accent. Figuring they’d probably think I’m nuts, both Wells and Patrick chimed in they too were from the south. Talk about a small world. Wells hails from Louisville, KY and Patrick was born in Marietta, GA. I was also a bit giddy about talking with Sheehan, an Irish native (whether he’s from south Ireland, I’m not sure). I admit, I’m a sucker for English, Scottish, and yes, Irish accents. Sheehan is absolutely lovely and his role in The Road Within is nothing short of outstanding.

I finally gained my composure enough to ask some questions. Check out the video below; the interview was so much fun and they all were absolutely charming. I must say, Sheehan is a real character. I hope you enjoy the antics and honest feedback the three of them provide.
