Event: Paleyfest 2012 – American Horror Story Panel
Date: Friday, March 2, 2012 – 7:00PM PST
Location: Saban Theatre – Beverly Hills, CA
I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the opening of the 29th Annual Paleyfest in which one of my favorite new shows, FX Network’s American Horror Story, was being presented. During the evening, we watched the penultimate episode “Birth,” which then led us into the panel discussion with cast members: Connie Britton (Vivien Harmon), Dylan McDermott (Ben Harmon), Jessica Lange (Constance Langdon), Frances Conroy (Moira, Sr.), and Alexandra Breckenridge (Moira, Jr.). Also present were co-creators/executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, and Dante Di Loreto, Executive Producer. The moderator for the evening was the delightful and charming Tim Stack, Senior Writer at Entertainment Weekly.
The panel discussions were engrossing, playful, humorous, and very informative. When the executive producers announced that Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Zachary Quinto will be returning in season two, I couldn’t tweet it out fast enough! Of course, as much as they talked about Dylan’s rear-end being displayed; sadly we didn’t get a preview in person.
What the video doesn’t show (and I could kick myself for not having a back up battery) is the vivaciously flamboyant tall gentleman who came dressed as Constance (we’ll call him Mr. Constance)! He followed up on a comment from another gentleman, who was a tad more masculine, in praising Lange for her sexiness and grace. The masculine guy said the only reason he watches American Horror Story is to see Lange and who could blame him! Mr. Constance’s homage to the great Jessica Lange was one of the highlights of the evening. Admittedly, Lange looks fantastic! She’s nearly 64 yrs old and when she walked out on stage, she glowed. She’s in great shape and looked smashing in her red dress.
And lastly, this is in regards to a question asked by an audience member who asked the cast if they’ve had any paranormal experiences. Alexandra Breckenridge told us a brief story about seeing a little girl in her apartment when she lived in Koreatown (in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles). I’m hoping to get a full story from her for my Ghostly Obsession blog.
