TV/Comic Con: Syfy’s LOST GIRL Kris Holden-Ried, Ksenia Solo, and Exec Producer Jay Firestone

Interviews: Lost Girl at San Diego Comic-Con 2012

Date: Sunday, July 15, 2012 (Hilton Bayfront)

One of the highlights of Comic-Con for me this year was meeting Kris Holden-Ried and Ksenia Solo of Syfy’s hit acquired series Lost Girl. Ever since it first aired on Syfy, I’ve been hooked on this refreshing and engaging series. If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s about a young woman named Bo (Anna Silk) who discovers she is a Fae species known as a Succubus (they feed off sexual energy). There are Light Fae and Dark Fae but Bo has chosen to remain unaligned – neutral. But both the Light and Dark Fae leaders are unhappy with this and try to woo Bo to join a side. However, Bo, along with her human side-kick and BFF Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) have chosen their own paths and are private investigators, of sorts, helping both Light and Dark Fae.

This was one of the most unique press rooms I attended during my stint at Comic-Con. Typically, the interviews were done round-table style – a cast member would sit at table, talk to the press for a 5-10 minute time frame, then jump to the next table. However, because there were just a few remaining press members left after the camera crews cleared the press line, the publicist decided that she would have Kris, Ksenia, and Jay Firestone (Executive Producer), sit up front, panel style, while we all sat and raised our hands to ask questions. This was a very effective and productive method. I was able to ask some great questions and, as you’ll see on the video, there were more great questions asked by the other press members.

Mind you, some of the questions being asked by other people may be difficult to hear, I did my best to increase audio so we could at least hear Kris, Ksenia, and Jay’s answers.

Some of the interesting questions asked by other press members (paraphrased):

If Lost Girl was on a premium cable channel, what would be different?  The answer was roughly translated to more nudity and less “strategic arm placement.”

Will Kenzi get Fae powers? Ksenia’s answer wasn’t as revealing as to whether they will or won’t but she said she would use her power for good, like have the power to “stop a war with a joke.”

One tidbit Jay Firestone reveals is that with the show being on Syfy, it is one and a half minutes shorter than the Canadian version. I thought that was a bit odd, but fret not, we get the 1.5 minute back on the DVD!

Of course, there is so much more…so please check out the video. And I wonder if there will be a feature film of Lost Girl. That would be interesting.

And on a personal note, I want to thank Kris Holden-Ried for giving my daughter a video shout out. She absolutely loved it! Both Kris and Ksenia were lovely and it was a great pleasure meeting all of them.

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
