TNT has hit gold with its hit crime drama Rizzoli & Isles, as well as its new hit drama Dallas. So much so, the cable network has ordered a fourth season of Rizzoli & Isles and a second season of Dallas. Both series are from Warner Horizon Television and each will have 15 episodes set to air in 2013.
Rizzoli & Isles has been a big hit for TNT since its premiere in 2010. And it’s no wonder given the camaraderie between its major players, Angie Harmon as Detective Jane Rizzoli, and Sasha Alexander as the incredibly brilliant and fashionable medical examiner, Maura Isles. Although both have opposite personalities on the show, they share a unique chemistry perfect for solving crimes in the city of Boston.
Rizzoli & Isles also stars Lee Thompson Young as Detective Barry Frost, Jane’s squeamish, computer-savvy partner; Bruce McGill as Sgt. Detective Vince Korsak, Jane’s steady old-school Homicide Squad teammate; Jordan Bridges as Jane’s brother, Frankie Jr., who dreams of becoming a detective like his sister; Brian Goodman as Lt. Detective Sean Cavanaugh, the head of the Boston Police Detective department; and Lorraine Bracco as Angela, Jane’s handful of a mother.
“Anchoring a new night in its third season, Rizzoli & Isles has proven itself to be a strong and enduring hit, not only in terms of the great storylines and performances, but also in terms of the show’s stellar ratings,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We’re thrilled that Rizzoli & Isles will continue to be a vital part of the TNT lineup.”
Currently airing Wednesdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), TNT’s Dallas, cable television’s #1 new series, marks the return to Southfork of J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing, who bring with them their arsenal of secrets, schemes and betrayals. This time, they’re joined by the next generation of Ewings, who take ambition and deception to a new level. The series stars Josh Henderson as John Ross, the son of J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing; Jesse Metcalfe as Christopher, Bobby’s adopted son; Jordana Brewster as Elena Ramos, John Ross’ girlfriend; Julie Gonzalo as Rebecca Sutter, Christopher’s wife; and Brenda Strong as Bobby’s wife, Ann. They are joined by the original series’ iconic stars: Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing, Linda Gray as Sue Ellen Ewing and Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing.
“Dallas has been a success for us on every level: pitch-perfect writing, smart directing and buzz-worthy performances by a new generation of stars and their iconic counterparts,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “With Dallas‘ top-flight ratings, robust growth through time-shifted viewing and the extensive online buzz, it’s clear the Ewings of Southfork have once again captured the imagination of viewers.”
