SYFY’S KILLJOYS SEASON 2 PRODUCTION BEGINS IN TORONTO
Second Season To Premiere on Syfy in
Summer 2016July 1, 2016
On Friday, July 1 at 9/8c, the second season of KILLJOYS will hit the ground running. Following last season’s boiling point tensions on Westerley, the trio’s loyalties are tested as they struggle to find the balance between politics, family and the good of the Quad.
NEW YORK – December 2, 2015 – Syfy, Space and Temple Street Productions announced today that production has commenced in Toronto, Ontario for Season Two of the space-adventure series KILLJOYS. The 10-episode second season will air in summer 2016 on Syfy, with Hannah John-Kamen (as “Dutch”), Aaron Ashmore (as “John Jaqobis”) and Luke Macfarlane (as “D’avin Jaqobis”) reprising their roles.
Following the shocking KILLJOYS season one cliffhanger, season two begins with Dutch and John trying desperately to find their brother-in-arms who’s been kidnapped at the hands of Dutch’s duplicitous and mysterious childhood mentor, Khlyen (Rob Stewart, Suits). As surprising truths are revealed, the Killjoys’ loyalties are tested as they struggle to balance the lives of their killjoy family and defending the good of the Quad.
“In the debut season, we introduced the Killjoys and learned about their world, the mysteries of the Quad, the secrets of the RAC, and the rich cast of characters. This season, we up the ante on the sci-fi factor, sexiness, and stakes, and answer some existing core questions while introducing new mysteries for our dynamic trio,” said Showrunner and Executive Producer, Michelle Lovretta. “This season promises to be a twisted romp, but the heart and soul of KILLJOYS remains the same – that of deep friendships and family bonds. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President, Original Content, Syfy: “KILLJOYS’ fun, fast-paced action and strong characters really resonated with the Syfy audience in the series’ first season, and we can’t wait to bring even more of Dutch, John and D’avin’s exciting exploits to our viewers next summer.”
“We’re thrilled to return to the Quad for a second season of KILLJOYS and continue our partnership with Space and Syfy who have been incredibly supportive partners of the series,” said Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, Executive Producers and Co-Presidents of Temple Street Productions. “Together with creator Michelle Lovretta and our talented cast and crew, we’re looking forward to delivering another intense, amped-up season to the KILLJOYS fan community.”
KILLJOYS was created by Michelle Lovretta (Lost Girl) who also serves as Executive Producer and Showrunner. Spearheaded by Lovretta, the writing team includes Adam Barken, Jeremy Boxen, Jon Cooksey, Julian Doucet, Sean Reycraft and Priscilla White. Returning to direct are Paolo Barzman, and Peter Stebbings. New to direct this season are Martin Wood, Stefan Pleszczynski, Ruba Nadda, Jeff Renfroe and Grant Harvey. Executive Producers are David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg of Temple Street Productions and Karen Troubetzkoy. D.J. Carson serves as Producer. Universal Cable Productions distributes the series worldwide except Canada.
