TV News: NBC Celebrates 90 Years of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a One-Hour Special on November 23

NBC TO HIGHLIGHT 90 YEARS OF THE MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE WITH ONE-HOUR SPECIAL, ‘MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE 90th CELEBRATION,’ ON NOV. 23

NEW YORK – Nov. 16, 2016 – On the eve of the network’s telecast of the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NBC will celebrate the annual holiday extravaganza with a look back at America’s most beloved procession. The “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 90th Celebration” will air Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The hour-long primetime special will feature some of the most extraordinary elements from the nine decade history of the Parade.  Viewers will experience the evolution of the Parade, the process of building the dazzling balloons and floats, the craziest costumes, and the final preparations that go into creating this two-and-a-half-mile march through the streets of Manhattan.  The show will also highlight the annual excitement of the bands and dancers from across the country as they are selected for the honor of representing their community in this event watched by millions.

Past parade participants including Scott Bakula, Corbin Bernsen, Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Melissa Gilbert, Allison Janney, Eric McCormack, Alan Rachins, William Shatner, Brooke Shields and Steven Weber will share their memories, along with current and former Parade hosts including Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Katie Couric, Bryant Gumbel, Pat Sajak and Williard Scott.

Viewers will also get a special sneak peak at what they can expect from this year’s milestone 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (Nov. 24 at 9 a.m.-noon in all time zones on NBC.)
