USA NETWORK’S EMMY® NOMINATED DRAMA “MR. ROBOT”
RENEWED FOR THIRD SEASON
Golden Globe® and Peabody Award-Winning Series Hails from Universal Cable Productions
NEW YORK – August 16, 2016 – USA Network today announced a third season pickup of the original drama series MR. ROBOT. From Universal Cable Productions, the second season of the buzzy series, which was recently nominated for six Primetime Emmys, is currently airing all-new episodes Wednesdays at 10/9c. MR. ROBOTSeason 3 is slated for 2017.

MR. ROBOT follows Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek, “The Pacific”), a cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their leader (Christian Slater, “Nymphomaniac”). Following the events of fsociety’s five/nine hack on multi-national company Evil Corp, the second season explores the consequences of that attack as well as the illusion of control.
The series stars Golden Globe, Emmy and SAG® Award Nominee Malek, Golden Globe® Award Winner Slater, Portia Doubleday (“Her”), Carly Chaikin (“Suburgatory”), Martin Wallström (“Simple Simon”), Grace Gummer (“The Newsroom”), Michael Cristofer (“Ray Donovan”) and Stephanie Corneliussen (“Legends of Tomorrow”).
Since its premiere, MR ROBOT has received six Emmy nominations including Drama Series and Lead Actor; three Golden Globe Award nominations and two wins including Best Drama; a Peabody Award; a SAG Award nomination; four Critics’ Choice® Award nominations and three wins; two Writers Guild® Award nominations and one win for Best New Series; three IPA Satellite® Award nominations and one win for Best Supporting Actor; and the TCA Award for Outstanding New Program. The series was also selected for an AFI Award for Television Program of the Year, won a Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Long Form Series, won the coveted Audience Award in the Episodics category at the 2015 SXSW Festival and was an official selection at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival.
The drama hails from Universal Cable Productions, writer and executive producer Esmail (“Comet”) as well as Anonymous Content executive producers Steve Golin (“True Detective”) and Chad Hamilton (“Breakup at a Wedding”).
