From the moment Strike Back killed off Col. Eleanor Grant (Amanda Mealing) in the first season finale, I’ve been anxiously awaiting news of which cast members would return for season two of this intense and highly addictive series. Today, Cinemax announced in a press release the very sexy Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton, Animal Kingdom and the upcoming Gangster Squad) and very handsome Sgt. Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester, Crusoe, Camelot) will return for season two. Strike Back will shoot ten new episodes on location in South Africa starting in January for debut later in 2012. Capt. Oliver Sinclair (Rhashan Stone, Episodes) and Sgt. Julia Richmond (Michelle Lukes, Alexander) will also return for the new season.
Strike Back tells the suspenseful story of a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative (Stapleton) who joins with a stealth British military unit when a resourceful international terrorist group plots a major attack. Researched by the creators of the series and aided by consultants, the action-packed drama is rooted in the field of counter-terrorism and set against the backdrop of timely global issues.
If you haven’t seen Strike Back, you can watch the season one episodes on Max Go – something I strongly urge you to do. I promise, you won’t be sorry! It will completely change your opinion of Friday night shows.
