LOS ANGELES, November 14, 2017 – Subscribers to the FX+ commercial-free service will be able to watch the first episode of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story beginning Friday, January 12, 2018, five days before the series officially premieres on FX.
FX+ is the commercial-free on demand hub for all seasons of almost every current and library title of FX original series. The service is currently available to Comcast Xfinity TV and Cox Contour subscribers who upgrade their service to include FX+ in their video package for $5.99 per month.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, the second installment of the acclaimed, award-winning limited series, will premiere on FX on Wednesday, January 17, at 10 PM ET/PT.
Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, Alexis Martin Woodall, Dan Minahan, Tom Rob Smith, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are Executive Producers of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. It is written by Tom Rob Smith, and Ryan Murphy directed the premiere episode of the series, which stars Darren Criss, Edgar Ramirez, Penelope Cruz and Ricky Martin. The series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
In addition to exclusively offering complete in-season stacking rights to all of its current original series commercial free, FX Networks is the first basic cable portfolio to offer every season of almost every title in its original series library. FX+ features every season of 31 FX original series or more than 1,300 episodes of award-winning and acclaimed original programs spanning the past 15 years. Due to the number of episodes in the FX Networks library, the shows will be rolled out over a period of time and it is expected that the complete FX+ roster will be available in 2018.

In a press release, FX announced it has cast Penélope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Gianni Versace’s sister, in Versace: American Crime Story, production of which commences this April with a scheduled air date sometime in 2018. Given the dissimilarities in their looks, it will be interesting to see how Cruz pulls this off. If you remember, Gianni was a renowned Italian fashion designer who was murdered outside his villa in Miami, Florida.

LOS ANGELES, March 20, 2017 – Academy Award® winning actress Penélope Cruz has been cast to play Donatella Versace, the sister of murdered fashion designer Gianni Versace, in Versace: American Crime Story. Versace: American Crime Story is the third installment of the universally acclaimed, award-winning limited series from Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.
Production of Versace: American Crime Story is scheduled to begin in April and air in 2018.
Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson serve as Executive Producers on Versace: American Crime Story, which is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.
Academy Award® winner Penélope Cruz has proven herself to be one of the most versatile actresses by playing a variety of compelling characters, and becoming the first actress from Spain to be nominated for and win for an Academy Award. First introduced to American audiences in the Spanish films Jamon, Jamon and Belle Epoque, she starred in her first English language film Hi-Lo Country in 1998, followed the next year by The Girl of Your Dreams. She followed that with appearances in All the Pretty Horses, Woman on Top, Open Your Eyes, Twice Upon a Yesterday, Talk of Angels, Live Flesh and All About My Mother, which was awarded the Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
Next up for Penélope was Blow, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Vanilla Sky, Masked & Anonymous, Fan Fan la Tulipe” Don’t Tempt Me and Don’t Move, for which she won a David Di Donatello Award (Italian Oscar) and European Film Award for Best Actress. She then starred in Gothika, Head in the Clouds, Noel, Chromophobia and Sahara. In 2006, Penélope starred in Volver, for which she won the “Best Actress” awards at the European Film Awards, the Spanish Goya Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, and received both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations, and Elegy.
In 2009, she won the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, along with a BAFTA, an NYFCC and an NBR Award. That year she also starred in Broken Embraces and Nine, for which she garnered SAG, Golden Globe and Oscar nominations. In 2011, Penélope starred in the international blockbuster hit Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, followed by To Rome with Love, The Counselor and Twice Born. In 2016 Penélope starred in Zoolander 2, The Brothers Grimsbyand went on to produce and star in Ma Ma and appear in The Queen of Spain. In 2016, she finished production on Escobar andMurder on the Orient Express.
