I’m desperately fighting the urge to say (in my best Ghost Busters voice), “Who you gonna call? O-Siris!” Who knew an Egyptian God was so hell bent on dishing out justice…so to speak?
Osiris (guest star Faran Tahir) comes to the 21st century seeking out the guilty to dispense his Egyptian brand of justice. The first victim feels guilty after accidentally killing a young girl when he backed out of his driveway. His punishment – being crushed to oblivion by a black sedan…in his apartment…on the 10th floor. Maybe Osiris was channeling John Carpenter’s Christine?
Victim number two ran illegal dog fights but atoned by volunteering at animal shelters and sponsoring friendly adoptions. But his guilt still gnawed at him like a dog on a bone (pun intended). His punishment – a scary looking German Shepherd (only he can see) attacking him inside a locked bathroom. Hmm, Stephen King’s Cujo anyone?
Our third victim – Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles). Yes, our beloved Dean harbors much guilt, especially recently since lying to Sam (Jared Padaleki) about killing his friend Amy (Jewel Staite). Osiris picks up on the guilt weighing so heavy in Dean’s heart. But Sam decides to be Dean’s lawyer in the unusual trial.
Osiris: “Three witnesses.”
Sam: “Objection.”
Osiris: “Grounds?”
Sam: “Witnesses being called without prior notice.”
Dean: “Good one.”
Sam: “I saw it on The Good Wife.” (Don’t you just love when they plug other shows. FYI – CBS is the parent company of The CW.)
One of the funniest parts is Dean’s self-pep talk after meeting a beautiful bartender. “It’s been a while, but you owe yourself; it’s nothing but a ground ball – you just gotta…put your mitt down. You are Dean Winchester – this is what you do.”
I’m enjoying Supernatural so much again! They are getting back to hunting and taking cases…at least until they can figure out the Leviathan situation. As much as I miss Castiel (Misha Collins), I honestly don’t miss the whole religious war story arc being the center of attention. I am interested in knowing what Sam keeps seeing (that we can’t) that makes him press his wounded hand to focus on reality. Does he see Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) or something else?
