During the 2014 San Diego Comic Con, I had the opportunity to catch up with stars Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha) and Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn Lothbrok) who play mother and son in the History Channel’s hit series Vikings. They shared their enthusiasm for the upcoming story lines in season 3.
For starters, Winnick is giddy about the show’s growing female audience; she proudly proclaimed the gender breakdown for viewers is now 50/50. Regarding her character, Lagertha, she said, “Wait for Season 3, there is definitely a change in dynamics!”
When I asked if we could expect any romantic interests for their respective characters, Winnick responded that since Lagertha is a free woman now, she’s eager to explore the romantic connections that may come from being single. For Bjorn, Ludwig was a bit more coy but explained that for his character, it will be more of a coming of age story.
Vikings is currently in production in Ireland and will return to the History Channel in 2015. To keep up with show, please visit Vikings website at http://www.history.com/shows/vikings.
