Review: Wilfred, S2, Ep. 211 – “Resentment”
Air Date: Thursday, Sept 13, 2012, 10:00PM E/P on FX.
Rating:
“Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” – Malachy McCourt
Is it just me or have you missed Drew (Chris Klein), too? He hasn’t been around lately and I’ve missed his sly charm and slightly dimwitted humor. And his crazy ‘Ryan-isms,’ as I call them. He comes from like way, way, left field this week with this beauty: “Ryyyy-ce-a-roni, the San Francisco treat, now in the new chicken…” I’m still giggling over that one.
Does Drew not see how much Ryan cares for Jenna? Or is he that confident that Jenna wouldn’t leave him for Ryan? Either way, I think Drew asks a bit too much of Ryan but it’s even more comical when he asks him for a little help with his wedding vows. Not to write them but for some herbal inspiration, or as Drew calls it, “doobage.” And while under the influence, Drew reveals a stunning secret about Jenna that Wilfred takes very hard. Jenna is a cheater? Say it ain’t so, Drew! When Ryan tells Wilfred about Jenna, Wilfred bitch-slaps him demanding, “You shut your lying face vagina.” Whatever that means. Ryan does make a valid point though; hasn’t Wilfred smelled other dogs, even other humans on Jenna? She may have only had one indiscretion with another human but she’s been petting a lot of neighborhood dogs.
“Resentment” is full of funny moments. I didn’t expect Drew to throw out a ‘Jenna-ism’ but he gives us“Jenna-ration X.” Yes, he went there. Cheesy, but so Drew. And after all is said and done, Ryan begins to heed the advice he gives Wilfred: “Just let it go and get on with your life.” I’m just wondering if he can actually go through with it.
One of my favorite things about Wilfred is some of the endings of each episode when Ryan and Wilfred are sitting in the basement chatting about something completely off the subject of the current episode. This week’s ending does have a bit to do with Drew’s wedding vows when Wilfred recites the lyrics to Guns-n-Roses’ “Sweet Child O’Mine.” These endings are some of the most entertaining and comical to me. It can’t be scripted, right? And to think of what Wilfred did with Ryan’s t-shirt…ick. Maybe that’s why I haven’t gotten a pet. Kids are disgusting enough. Haha!
