TVD - Klaus

Finally, we get to see Klaus

I love, love, love this episode. The opening sequence alone makes me smile like a loon. While I didn’t expect Elijah (Daniel Gillies) to wake up unaware and not knowing anything that happened to him, it was a nice touch. Especially when he sees Elena (Nina Dobrev) and immediately thinks she’s Katerina/ Katherine (Nina Dobrev). It’s plausible that his awakening would be like that of a newly made vampire. He doesn’t realize he’s a vampire or anything else about himself but still, he instinctively knows he can’t be in Elena’s house. Spooky.

I’m excited that we get to see the real Klaus (Joseph Morgan) because I’ve wanted to know who this guy is since Elijah first mentioned him. Finally, it looks like the show is getting back to the good stuff. How surprised were you to find out Elijah and Klaus are brothers? Not too much I hope. The two actors look enough alike to see that bombshell coming. But it does make their story all the more intriguing. Some siblings have a link—like twins—that is only broken under the most extreme circumstances, which it seems Elijah and Klaus may have. I think this means we’ll have quite a bit of storyline going for a while and that’s good. I won’t be bored. It also points to Katherine’s obsession with two other brothers.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) so wants to be a part of the action. I get his reluctance to interfere with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena’s plan (which isn’t really clear to me, but… whatever). There are quite a few things I like about what’s going on lately: the originals being the only vampires to compel other vampires, Klaus possessing Alaric (Matthew Davis), and Katherine sticking around. The compulsion of other vampires is, in a word, awesome. It means power, and with that power comes the knowledge that Klaus won’t be going away anytime soon. I wasn’t a big fan of Alaric being possessed only because I don’t like to see him as a bad guy, and I wanted to see the person known as Klaus. It was a bit of a copout but now, I see the benefits. And of course, Katherine is the best part of The Vampire Diaries. She still has something about her that we aren’t aware of yet. Whatever it is has to be revealed at some point now that both Klaus and Elijah are on the scene. It must have to do with her appeal. I’ll be darned if every guy doesn’t fall in love with her at some point. She’s got something all the boys want. Did I mention how much I love Elijah? He’s so cool.

Could Elijah have been in love with Katherine?

I find myself sitting on pins and needles waiting for Alaric-Klaus (as dubbed by Damon) to slip and say he’s a vamp. But no, he doesn’t do that; he does something better. Kudos to the writers and actors for making that scene feel genuine. I didn’t expect Jenna (Sara Canning) to be so accepting of what was being told to her, but she had to be shown to believe. Well now, Jenna wanted to know the truth. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for…

Favorite line:

Elijah: “Yes, I’m a little behind on the times, but I believe the term you’re searching for is… ‘OMG.’”

Overall, “Klaus” is a revealing episode, full of twists and surprises I didn’t see coming. If this is any indication of what’s to come, I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season. Although I haven’t read the books, this episode makes me just want to see if I can get a little extra something out of the TVD experience. The foreshadowing alone is enough to make me giggle with glee. And I have to confess, I didn’t miss Bonnie (Katerina Graham), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) or Matt (Zach Roerig) during “Klaus.” Can you guess why?

  1. SERIOUSLY LOVED THIS EPISODE!! As Elijah said “OMG!” I totally think Elijah (who I think is sexy) was in love with Katerina/Katherine but perhaps she felt the same?? I think Klaus is perfectly sinister – he’s like the original Damon. This episode was soo good!! I hated to see Damon get emotional again over Elena – in the books, Damon and Elena do get together for a while – when Stefan has gone away somewhere…can’t really remember. The show exceeds the books by 1000x’s – I got bored in book 3 but the show is EXCITING! And I think I know why you didn’t miss Bonnie, Jeremy, Caroline, and Matt – I’m getting annoyed with the drama of their relationships. Tell me your reasons 🙂

    1. I’ve heard the show is better than the books but I’m still curious enough to find out myself. LOL. The reasons I didn’t miss those three: they bore me. Matt is being used by Caroline’s mom and that’s just out of left field. Not understanding that at all. Jeremy should be a vampire by now. That would be exciting especially with Jenna’s response to learning the truth about vampires in Mystic Falls. And Bonnie, well she’s just not the same girl anymore. I miss the pissed off at all vamps Bonnie who would drop Damon in a heartbeat. At least she had something going for her besides being a martyr. Caroline isn’t half as interesting without Tyler. He needs to come back, like pronto. The love triangle worked with them since they are all of a different species. More complications means more interesting outcomes.
