I think Kol spells nothing but trouble for Mystic Falls.
“All My Children” is a solid episode. After being left in suspense for quite a few scenes, the ending is what really sets me on edge. The cliffhangers are killer (pun intended) and the writers know just what to do to get keep us clamoring for more. This week we a few questions are finally answered, more questions are thrown into the pot and a big mystery is ultimately revealed.
Observations and thoughts:
I find Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) bleeding heart for the wicked Original vampires interesting. She cares that Elijah (Daniel Gillies) might meet his death with Esther’s (Alice Evans) plan to kill off her children. It seems Elena instills some form of trust in Elijah making the two appear like confidants. Is he really the vampire with a heart of gold? I’m thinking not and even he admits to it himself. He’s ruthless under his cover of nobility and does what is necessary to get what he wants. Sometimes he can be nice about it and other times… well, he’s not so nice.
Our resident emo vamp is trying to fight his way back to humanity. Should be an interesting ride.
Klaus (Joseph Morgan) isn’t letting Caroline (Candice Accola) out of his sight. He wants her and he wants her bad. The only thing I wonder is will she eventually fall for him? He’s very charming and I find it hard to believe if she wasn’t so pissed off at him, she wouldn’t give him a chance. I wonder why the change up. What are the writers trying to show us with this new potential couple? Should we look at Klaus in a different light—is he not the evil hybrid we’ve come to know?
Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) are the go-to vampire rescue squad. Why does everyone turn to the Salvatore brothers to help save the day? Seriously, when did Damon become this guy that can be trusted? When did Stefan give in to his worse fears and rely on his evilllll brother? Granted with the new Stefan transformation we know he doesn’t truly trust Damon, but he looks to him for help. I remember a time when Stefan did all he could to keep Damon away. Those days are long gone and I would be remiss to say I wasn’t excited about it. I enjoy seeing the brothers working together, even if one of them *cough* Stefan *cough* is a total douche bag half the time.
Damon seems to be reverting back to his old self. Good times ahead, I think...
I like Rebekah (Clair Holt) a lot. She doesn’t seem like the clever type, but she surprises me with every decision she makes. She loses Elena in the secret underground caves but figures out a way to get back to her. Not only is it smart, but it’s a little ingenious. I’d like to know where she got the gasoline though. I can’t see her running to a gas station, filling up a gas can and booking it back to the caves for a damsel in distress BBQ. I applaud the writers for creating a character that’s not only beautiful and vicious, but intelligent. (She almost reminds me of Katherine.) Rebekah doesn’t wait for or depend on her brothers to do anything. She’s a woman who takes charge and doesn’t apologize for any toes she may step on. I hope she doesn’t change later on. That would be disappointing.
As an aside, I have to ask why the silly humans on this show believe they can outrun vampires. Elena does it, Bonnie (Kat Graham) does it, and I can’t help wondering why. You cannot run faster than a vampire people! They will always be faster and you should know this.
Funny lines:
Kol to Klaus about Rebekah’s night out: “Our sister’s a strumpet, but at least she’s having fun.”

Caroline to Elena and Bonnie about the privacy spell that doesn’t work: “I can hear everything you’re saying about Damon the Vampire Gigolo.”

Alaric to Damon about his not being able to contact Elena: “Well, I’m surprised you have time to call with all this original sex you’ve been having.”

Damon to Elijah about stopping his mother: “Well, I’m a little embarrassed to admit it but when it comes to killing 1,000 year old resurrected witches, I’m a bit rusty.”

I think we get it—Elena must be saved at all costs, damn the consequences. “I thought I could win her from you fair and square, but she doesn’t want me. It’s for the best. I’m better at being the bad guy anyway.” I love that Damon knows the truth about his situation and doesn’t shy away from it. I think he’s the better of the two brothers and it’ll probably be too late before Elena figures that out for herself. But hey, it’ll make the rest of the season an interesting one. I know the ending of “All My Children” definitely shows promise for exciting times ahead.
