As reality episodes go, this one is on the tame side. We learn Melissa longs to become a singer and loving husband that he is, Joey G decides to support her in the pursuit of her dream. But someone really should tell Melissa the correct words to “Amazing Grace.” Of course, using the word “wench” instead of “wretch” really does suit her, don’t you think? Meow…
Poor Caroline. She’s suffering from empty nest syndrome even though Lauren still lives with her. Albert thinks she needs something more in her life and since she already has an advice blog, he suggests she take it to the next level. So Caroline calls the local radio station and asks for an appointment to see them. Even though she has no radio experience, the interview goes fairly well. But, the interviewers tell her they have other people to consider and will get back to her. Come on! Who are they fooling? It’s Caroline Manzo, people! Why wouldn’t they want the huge following she already has? Mark my words, Caroline will have her own radio advice show in no time.
Jackie’s husband Chris folds to Ashley’s request for a car – again! Remember a couple of seasons back when he gave her a car, but had to take it away because of her bad behavior? I don’t think she has matured enough to earn this privilege and neither does Jackie. We’ll see if Ashley will make the car payments. What I don’t understand is how Chris tells Jackie she has to co-sign for the loan and when she asks him if she can think about it, he says, “Too late. The next step is go down and pick it up.” What? What’s with this macho approach? I didn’t think Chris was like that. I can’t believe the attitude Ashley pulls at the dealership when she doesn’t want Chris to have the duplicate set of keys. The three of them are sitting there, waiting to sign the papers, and arguing over whether Chris can take the car for a drive that night! Ashley even goes so far as to say, “I don’t want to sign it. If this is the way it’s gonna be, then I don’t even need a car. Whatever.” I’m not sure if Chris was kidding the whole time, but still — what an ungrateful little bitch Ashley is!
I admire Kathy and Rich’s parenting skills. Now that daughter Victoria is 16 and son Joseph is 14, they want the kids to re-write the contracts they’ve had since they were younger. The kids know not to sign them unless they can live up to what they’re signing. Jackie and Teresa could take a page out of Kathy’s book. Kathy and Rich are concerned about drugs and alcohol. Victoria more than exceeds her parents’ expectations, but Joseph is honest and forthright in telling his parents he’s probably going to have a drink or two when he’s a junior or senior in high school. I don’t blame Kathy for being surprised at that statement; I was too. I can see a little “guido” attitude emerging in Joseph’s personality and I hope Kathy puts a stop to it. I can understand the Wakiles being so protective of Victoria and Joseph, given what they went through in 2004 when Victoria underwent ten hours of brain surgery to remove a tumor. Having a seriously ill child is every parent’s nightmare. Been there, done that – not for a brain tumor, but for something just as serious.
Much to Teresa and Gia’s surprise and delight, Joey G calls asking if he can go to Gia’s gymnastics meet. Gia is so excited her uncle’s coming! She can’t wait to see him. I really want to slap Teresa for the way she talks to Joey G though. Stupid woman, you’re supposed to be making up with your brother, not challenging everything he says! At least Jackie gives Teresa good advice. “…just stay really calm Teresa, and keep an open mind.”
Gia doesn’t do very well on the various equipment, even though everyone tells her she did great, including Joe’s sister Maria and Teresa’s mother Antonia Gorga. I feel so bad for Gia that Joey G is nowhere to be found. But then in he comes, along with Melissa and their daughter, Antonia – just in time for the awards ceremony. My heart really went out to Gia as she runs excitedly screaming, “My uncle’s here! Oh my God, I gotta go see him!” Teresa asks him several times, “Didn’t you know what time it started” and gets some phony baloney excuse about being confused about the time. I can’t believe Melissa is comparing their being late to Teresa being late for their son’s first birthday party! The two situations are nothing alike! The joy of watching the little cousins hug and kiss, playing on a moon bounce is what it’s all about in my book. Or at least it should be. I’m also upset with Gia’s dad for leaving without saying goodbye to anyone – not even her. The man could at least make an effort on Teresa’s behalf to be friendly. There’s hope in the air though as Teresa and Joey G make a plan to meet later. I don’t know how well that’s going to go though, given Melissa’s attitude about it.
Tune in to The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Sundays, 10 pm ET/PT only on Bravo. Given the title of next week’s episode, “Whine and Dine,” I can’t wait to see what happens!
