As I predicted in my recap/review of last night’s competition, Psycho Mike was sent packing. And while people were questioning whether there would be any problems with guest performer Chris Brown, his two appearances went off without a hitch. Thank goodness – we certainly didn’t need a repeat performance of his GMA temper tantrum. Following is a recap of the show.
Dancing with the Stars – The Result Show opened with a lively dance performed by this season’s pros, along with the newly formed “Dancing with the Stars Troupe.” The process of elimination began early on when Tom and Brooke brought out this season’s athlete competitors and revealed that Hines and Kim were safe, along with Chris and Cheryl. To keep us guessing, Sugar Ray and Anna were told they would learn their fate later.
Chris Brown was on good behavior and sang his latest smash single, “Yeah 3x.” He had a wonderful group of background dancers, the best of whom was a little boy who did the most amazing break dance at the beginning.
The next three competitors – the actors – were brought up and Tom declared Ralph and Karina safe. Also safe were Kirstie and Maks. That left Chelsie and Mark, and despite the negative comments they received from the judges last night, they were safe also. I was so happy because these stars are among my favorites.
Next, we were introduced to the Dancing with the Stars Troupe. First up was Peta, who thinks of herself as a vivacious, sensual blonde. Next we met Tristan, who hopes to bring a bit of an Irish look to the group. He says he’s a bit of a joker and wants to keep things light-hearted. Following Tristan was Ted, who said Maks taught him everything he knows. He’s been compared to Maks as a bit of a bad boy, but he’s happy to let Maks have that title. Nicole, another member of the Troupe is Ted’s older sister and it makes him feel good that she’s dancing right next to him. Nicole is a dark-haired beauty and her personality on the dance floor is flirtatious, but she’s still very elegant and poised. An adorable blonde named Oksana is the next member of the troupe and she’s quite a dynamo even though she’s rather small. Her dream was to be on the Dancing with the Stars so she’s thrilled her dream is coming true. The final member of the troupe is Kiki, who brings his own funky style to the show. Following their introductions, the six of them performed to “Dance to the Music.” With the guys all in black and the girls all in short little sequined dresses, they wowed the audience.
Tom and Brooke brought out the two remaining men to announce their status. The next couple to be safe was Romeo and Chelsea, leaving Mike and Lacey to learn their fate later.
We were treated to some behind the scenes looks at the couples as they spoke about their relationships and the chemistry between them. They are all so cute together and there doesn’t seem to be any dissention among the ranks so far.
Chris Brown performed again, doing a mix of “Forever” and “Beautiful.” He and his dancers looked really cool – the stage was darkened and all of their outfits had little lights sewn in them, and as they danced, the lights came on and off to the beat of the music. Really cool performance!
Once again, viewers and voters were invited last night to log into abc.com and pick the style of dance they wished to see in this year’s “Macy’s Design A Dance” performance. The Jive was picked and starting tonight, you can go to the site and pick the song you’d like to have the dancers perform to.
The last three couples were sent out to the dance floor to learn their fate – Wendy and Tony, Petra and Dmitry and Kendra and Louis. The next couple continuing in the competition was Kendra and Louis; Petra and Dmitry were also still in the game; and Wendy and Tony were told they would learn their fate in a bit.
So that left Wendy and Tony, Sugar Ray and Anna, and Mike and Lacey. Finally, Wendy and Tony were told they were safe, as were Sugar Ray and Anna, leaving Mike and Lacey as the couple leaving. Amidst hugs all around, Mike was a gentleman and thanked everyone involved in the show.
Tune in next Monday for the second round of competition. I hear the dancers will dive into the Latin dances and I can’t wait to see who can really move those hips! And for more information, go to http://abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-the-stars/index.
