“Looks like somebody was a bit too literal about taking his secrets to the grave.” – Pete

Artie along with Pete and Myka discover a secret entrance within Niagara Falls

Avast me hearties, there be treasure afoot! “Lost and Found” takes us on an adventure I have long been waiting for. A ping (an artifact notification of sorts) has Artie (Saul Rubinek) all in a tizzy. It’s the ping to end all pings—the ping of the century even—leading to pirate treasure. What’s that you say? Seems there is “booty” looted from Warehouse 12 a long time ago by a pirate known as Roaring Dan Seavy.  While Artie enlists Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) to join him  in acquiring another artifact that will lead them to the treasure, Jinks (Aaron Ashmore) must try to convince Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) that their new houseguest Nick (guest star Josh Blaylock) isn’t being truthful. And who better to do it than Jinks, the human lie detector.

Observations:

We all know from last week’s episode, “What Matters Most,” that Myka was dealt some heavy news – she has ovarian cancer. There are several scenes throughout “Lost and Found,” where Myka tries to tell Pete about it but her efforts are nothing more than various scenarios she runs through her head. Myka’s mysterious behavior isn’t going unnoticed. Both Pete and Artie sense something is awry.

Nick meets with his mother Charlotte about their plans to infiltrate the warehouse

Nick isn’t just some runaway teenager; he’s the 500 year old immortal son of Charlotte Dupres (Polly Walker), also immortal. I have been waiting for this storyline to comeback and boy does it return with a bang. Nick was deployed by his mother to retrieve something from the warehouse – or should I say someone. As you’ve heard, Anthony Head guest stars as the alchemist Paracelsus for a three-episode arc and Paracelsus is the one who gave Charlotte and Nick their immortality. I’m hoping they bring back Prof. Sutton/Saint Germain (James Marsters) as he, too, is immortal thanks to Paracelsus.

There are quite a few twists in “Lost and Found,” including the return of someone we thought was very, very dead. No, it’s not Leena (Genelle Williams). It’s Marcus (guest star Sasha Roiz). I was in a complete state of shock when I saw him. How could this be possible? Well, it turns out the figure isn’t really Marcus; it’s an illusion. Nick has a trick up his sleeve using an artifact — Franz Mesmer’s Magnets. Clever boy. Thankfully, Claudia figures out his plans and warns Jinks, but her discovery doesn’t save her from Nick’s final plans.

Artie, Pete and Myka discover a room designed to look like pirate Dan Seevy’s ship

So many wonderful artifacts are showcased in “Lost and Found.” “Auguste Rodin’s hammer & chisel, it has the power to reveal shapes hidden inside objects.” Aleister Crowley’s ruby-studded universal hexagram necklace is imbued with the power to create a ghastly smoke-like entity, which the pirate Dan Seavy uses to protect his “booty.” And the famed “Philosopher’s Stone” that produces the elixir of life giving one immortality; it can also make an immortal mortal again. With all these wonderful artifacts being introduced, it makes me that much more infuriated at the powers that be who’ve given Warehouse 13 only a limited fifth and final season. Don’t they see there are so many artifacts and stories that can be invented?

Funny moments/lines:

There were quite a few comical references to Comic-Con.

Artie (referring to Charlotte’s hired goon): “He’s dead.”

Pete: “That never happens at Comic-Con.”

***

Claudia to Jinks about warehouse security: “I’ve got this place locked down tighter than Mrs. Frederic’s (CCH Pounder) weave.”

***

Pete about Aleister Crowley’s necklace: “Bag it before tall, dark, and neck-snappy shows up; copy that!”

***

The main purpose for Charlotte’s grand ruse and using her son Nick to infiltrate the warehouse is to release Paracelsus from the bronzer. Now that he is free, what are his master plans? Does he intend to destroy the warehouse or take it over? And with the bronzer machine broken, how will Artie be able to un-bronze Claudia? I can only hope the final two episodes this season are as full of thrills and adventure as “Lost and Found.”
