Book Review: "Beloved" by Toni Morrison 2

While I won’t go into detail about what happens in this book because it’s worth you finding out on your own, I will say you won’t forget Beloved. It’s deeply moving and will leave an imprint on your mind that will remind you of what it truly means to be free—physically as well as mentally.

Review: Rescue Me, S7, E2 - "Menses" (Payback's a bitch, baby!) 3

I feel sorry for Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary). After a lifetime of always being in control, calling the shots, the women in his life have taken over and he’s been reduced to doing their bidding. Payback’s a bitch, baby!

Review: The Big C, Season 2, Ep. 4 "Boo!" 5

I’m going to play Devil’s advocate now. Cathy has stage-four Melanoma so I understand her being on edge, but I think she’s channeling the ‘bitch’ in “Brave Bitch” embroidered on the t-shirt Andrea makes for her. “I feel braver and bitchier already.” Yeah, her being bitchier is beginning to rub me the wrong way.

Review: The Closer, Season 7, Ep. 2 "Repeat Offender" 8

The best part of watching a police procedural is seeing the workings of a police investigation. You know, the sneaky things officers do when suspects aren’t watching… It’s amazing that people in waiting rooms don’t realize they are being monitored.

Review: Leverage, Season 4, Ep 4 "The Van Gogh Job" 10

Review: The Glades, S2, E6 – “Gibtown”

Review: The Glades, S2, E6 - "Gibtown" 11

There are times when the storyline of the central characters enhances a show’s main focus, and times when it distracts viewers from it. “Gibtown” was unfortunately a bit of the latter. The sharp banter, clever dialogue, and bait-and-switch techniques that have been this show’s draw from the start were shadowed by the triangular angst between Jim Longworth (Matt Passmore), Callie Cargill (Kiele Sanchez), and Samantha “Sam” Harper (Natalia Cigliuti).

Review: True Blood, S4, E40 - "I'm Alive and on Fire" 16

It’s nice to see the innate aggression between vampires and Weres brought to light. We don’t often get a glimpse of their interacting outside of the norm so it’s interesting to see the fangs come out and the growling commence.

Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2

Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 17

For the many fans who’ve read the books, #HarryPotter and the Deathly Hallows (HPDH-P1/P2) more than lives up to the story as written by the amazing Rowling. Without spoiling it for those who haven’t read the books, HPDH-P2 picks up exactly where HPDH-P1 left off as Lord Voldemort takes the Elder Wand from the tomb of Professor Dumbledore. As Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their tireless and exhausting search for the remaining horcruxes, Harry begins to feel Voldemort more and more.

Book Review: “The Birth of Venus” by Sarah Dunant

Book Review: "The Birth of Venus" by Sarah Dunant 19

It kills me to say it but I felt let down once we reached the climax. It was somewhat predictable to have things go smoothly for her where I thought they would fall apart and actually get exciting.

Review: #WilfredFX, Season 1, Ep 104 “Acceptance” (I’ll never look at peanut butter the same way)

Review: #WilfredFX, Season 1, Ep 104 "Acceptance" (I'll never look at peanut butter the same way) 20

Warning – “Acceptance” is chock full of lewd sexual references, gestures, and language. Wilfred is by far one of my new favorite shows on television right now. The insane, politically incorrect, lewd, crude, and outrageous comedy brings a sense of fulfillment to my slightly demented soul. The more I watch, the more I wish Wilfred (Jason Gann) was my neighbor’s dog so I can have silly adventures like Ryan (Elijah Wood).

Review: Franklin & Bash, S1, E7 – “Franklin vs. Bash”

Review: Franklin & Bash, S1, E7 - "Franklin vs. Bash" 21

If I haven’t said it before, I’ll say it now – I. Love. This. Show! Sure, it tends to be campy and silly at times, but it’s charming and never fails to make me laugh. And if that isn’t a recipe for good entertainment, I don’t know what is.

Review: White Collar, S3, E6 - "Scott Free" 22

The chess match begins anew between Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) and Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) with this latest caper. The themes of choice and identity are gaining in strength, leaving viewers to wonder where this tightrope the characters are subconsciously walking will lead, and if we’ll like what we see when we reach that destination.

“Dance Ability” as a theme posed a tough problem for a lot of the contenders. Harry Shum Jr.was the only guest they could have chosen for this challenge. The kids have to worry about more than just their feet to win this week and earn a call back.
