Are You In the Mood? Advance Review: Surviving Jack – “Pilot”
Surviving Jack is a comedy based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.” Set in 1990s Southern California, the show kind of reminds me of Shit My Dad Says but as a younger version. Meloni plays this buttoned-up doctor, Jack Dunlevy, who is taking over the household duty of looking after the kids, both teens at this point, while his beloved wife goes back to school to fulfill her dreams of becoming a lawyer. Well, let’s just say Jack doesn’t really have quite the finesse Joanne would in certain situations and what ensues is nothing short of awkward hilarity with some eyebrow raising, laugh out loud fun.

Billy Crystal’s Award Winning Broadway Show, “700 Sundays,” Comes to HBO
Billy Crystal has long been one of my all-time favorite actor/comedians. He cracked me up in such movies as the 1989 iconic movie, When Harry Met Sally, and the 1999 laughfest, Analyze This, as well as his brilliant turn as Jodie Dallas in one of television’s funniest nighttime soaps ever, Soap. So I am beyond excited to see Crystal’s new special, 700 Sundays, debuting April 19, 2014 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on HBO. 700 Sundays is Crystal’s sixth HBO special and is an adaption of his autobiographical long running, Tony-winning Broadway show.

Goodbye. Spoiler-Free Advance Review: Psych – “The Breakup”
Following the events of “1967: A Psych Odyssey,” I questioned whether Psych had used up much of the emotional storylines most shows save for their series finales. After all, we saw the departure of Chief Vick (Kirsten Nelson) and Juliet (Maggie Lawson), and then, in “Shawn and Gus Truck Things Up,” it looked like we were saying goodbye to Henry (Corbin Bernsen). By the time we get to “The Breakup,” it appears most of the goodbyes have been said

Miscalculations, a Deal, and an Eagle. Recap: Vikings – “Eye for an Eye”
Jarl Borg (Thorbjørn Harr) has made good on his threats, he’s taken Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) lands and has a bounty out on Ragnar and Rollo’s heads. Does this mean the summer raid in the west turned into a huge bust for Ragnar and the Vikings? Keep your axes sharpened;, the decisions and the miscalculations some of the Vikings have made are about to take a costly toll.

Huh? Review: Psych – “A Nightmare on State Street”
Several months ago, Psych fans were invited to vote for an episode they would like to see aired. The fans picked one titled “Dream Therapy,” which would later become “A Nightmare on State Street.” As with most Psych horror-themed episodes, “Nightmare” was directed by James Roday who wanted this to be the mother of all homage episodes. This idea works as long as you’re a horror fan; unfortunately, I am not.

Granny is Back. Review: The Americans – “A Little Night Music”
“A Little Night Music” is a good episode, with plenty of intrigue at the end. The fight scene is extremely well choreographed, and the dialogue throughout sharp and particularly believable. Things don’t go as easily for the Jennings in “A Little Night Music” as they’ve gone in the past. This may be the first time The Americans leaves us with such a surprising cliffhanger at the end of an episode. Were you as shocked by what happens as I was?

The Whole Half. Review: Justified – “Weight”
Finally! After a few mediocre episodes, Justified finally pulls a rabbit out the old Stetson with “Weight.” This episode is jam-packed with twists, turns, and eye-popping surprises I didn’t see coming. From an old friend (or enemy, depending on who you are) wheeling into a family feud that’s been brewing since the beginning, “Weight” holds no punches in the violence department. Will these surprises be another anchor weighing Justified down or the invigoration it needs? Either way, I’m along for the ride.

All Wrapped Up. Review: Grimm – “Once We Were Gods”
I’ve been fascinated with Egyptian legends and mummies since I was a little girl. One of my writing idols is Agatha Christie, who married an archeologist and lived in Egypt for some time. When I realized “Once We Were Gods” had an Egyptian theme, I was extremely excited. While there are a few areas that are lacking, overall, “Once We Were Gods” doesn’t disappoint. It’s chock full of mystery and intrigue, including an Anubis sarcophagus, new Wesen and folklore, and the forced betrayal I knew was going to happen.

Two Steps Back, One Forward. Retrospective: Suits – “Yesterday’s Gone”
Jessica (Gina Torres) learns her ex-husband Quentin (Russell Hornsby) succumbed to his battle with ALS. Further complicating things, Jessica and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) have been named co-executors of his estate, which doesn’t go over well with Quentin’s girlfriend Lisa (Sharon Leal). Meanwhile, convinced Mike (Patrick J. Adams) never went to Harvard, Louis (Rick Hoffman) puts in motion a plan to expose Mike as a fraud by inviting one of Mike’s professors from Harvard as a guest lecturer.
