Justified, Season 5 Red Carpet/Premiere
DGA Theater, Los Angeles, CA

Getting invited and actually being able to attend the red carpet press line isn’t always easy, especially if the venue has a short walkway for media to stand side by side in a tight line. Thankfully, YEC was able to participate this year, as we have for the past few years, and it’s always a surprise to hear some of the things that come out of an actor’s mouth. I’m referring to Jacob Pitts, who plays Tim Gutterson on the series. He had me cracking up! It was so much fun to interview him even if he was being coy with his answers, which leads me to believe something big might be happening with his character this season.

It’s a mixed bag of whom you might get to interview on the press line, especially when you’re a smaller website like YEC; nonetheless, we were on the same press line as the bigger sites were. While everyone loves to talk to the bigger names—like lead actors Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins, who play Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder respectively—I think with this season being focusing on the Crowes, getting to talk with Damon Herriman, who plays Dewey Crowe, was a big win for YEC! I knew from his IMDb page that he’s from Australia but to hear him speak with that Aussie accent really threw me off my game for a moment. I did fudge up a little, mostly due to nerves, about his guest appearance on another show. He kindly corrected me without making me feel like a prize idiot.

I did have a total geek out moment…ok, two actually. One was when Joelle Carter (Ava Crowder) remembered me from previous red carpet interviews and a set visit I attended. She and I are both from Georgia. It always makes me smile when an actor remembers me, especially since they meet so many reporters/writers during their careers. Carter looked gorgeous in a LBD. I’m looking forward to seeing what her character Ava goes through this season, especially with her being in prison.

My second complete geek out was with actress Amy Smart who plays Allison, a social worker, this season. I’ve loved so many films Smart has been in, for instance, Just Friends. She’s such a versatile actress and I’m digging that she’s on Justified as a love interest for Raylan. I hope I didn’t freak her out by telling her I loved her. I meant it purely as fan love – not stalker-y. Sorry, Amy!

Along with Herriman, Pitts, Carter, and Smart, I scored a few more interviews under my belt: Nick Searcy (Art Mullins), A.J. Buckley (Danny Crowe), Sam Anderson (Lee Paxton), Michael Rapaport (Daryl Crowe), and series creator Graham Yost!

So, without further ado…

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
