On the Red Carpet – Season 2, American Horror Story – Asylum
Date: Saturday, October 13, 2012
Before we dive into the delights of the red carpet, I want to comment on the first episode, which I had a chance to view prior to the red carpet. If the first episode is any indication of what season two has in store, you are in for a sensory overload of gory, cryptic, shocking, and sensual surprises.
As a fan of season one, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the minds of the creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk but what they give us is vastly different from what you’ve seen in season one. Yes, there are returning actors from the first season, but they aren’t the same people. Season two is set in 1964 with the Briarcliff insane asylum being one of the main characters just as the Murder House was to season one. The church-run asylum is home to the criminally insane, depraved deviants, and some who don’t appear to be crazy at all, which may be scarier if you think about it. But what is crazy anyway, right? (insert wicked grin). And did I mention the creep factor on the opening credits? Last season’s opening credits always freaked me, sometimes more than the show. Season two has up the ante on the macabre with the opening sequence. (shudder)
Synopsis: “Inside this locked down facility, danger lurks around every corner. From Nazis and serial killers, to mutants and aliens, no one is safe inside these walls.”

As the press gathers on the sidelines of the red carpet, I am beginning to feel my nerves kick in. Despite having done this type of event before, it’s different this time because we have some big stars – movie stars – in the second season. Of course we have the returning Jessica Lange who is in a league of her own. Movie star and now TV star, Lange’s timeless grace and beauty cannot be touched. Then they bring in actors like James Cromwell (Sum of All Fears, The Green Mile) and Joseph Fiennes (Shakespere In Love, Enemy at the Gates) <he shook my hand twice!> and actresses Chloë Sevigny (Boys Don’t Cry, Zodiac) and Clea DuVall (Identity, Argo) <she shook my hand, too!> making the second season extremely high profile. And let’s not forget the talented musician Adam Levine, front man of the band Maroon 5 (sadly, he was not on the red carpet). All these newly added cast members along with all the tremendous returning cast (Lange, Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe, and Sarah Paulson), the possibilities are virtually endless.
Without further ado, here is the video compilation of the interviews from the red carpet and some photos. I was shaking from the excitement and awe for the entire drive back home from the Paramount lot where the red carpet took place. Did I mention Joseph Fiennes touched me? Ok, he just shook my hand but that totally counts!
On the red carpet – talent from American Horror Story – Asylum Season 2, and additional talent from: FOX – Glee; NBC – The New Normal; FX – Wilfred; ABC – Modern Family. I didn’t get to see everyone but I tried to take as many photos as I could when I did see someone.
Also, I’ve added photos from the “Eternal Darkness Tour” that I attended on Oct. 2nd for the DVD launch of AHS season 1.
