THREE-PART TRIBUTE TO FRENCH FILM NOIR SET PREMIERES TODAY

EACH SHORT FILM SET TO ORIGINAL MUSIC WRITTEN AND RECORDED BY KAT GRAHAM

CAPSULE COLLECTION INCLUDES FILM, EP AND BOOK

Los Angeles, CA (February 10, 2015) – As recently announced by The Hollywood Reporter, actress and recording artist KAT GRAHAM has released MUSE, the first of a three-part short film series made in conjunction with Maker Studios. The first film can be seen at http://muse-film.com/.

Directed by Darren Genet (“The Vampire Diaries,” “CSI: Miami,” “Kings”) the films follow the story of a photographer in love with his Muse, played by Graham. MUSE also stars Louis Oberlander as the photographer.

Each of the three films is set to original music written and recorded by Graham, which will also be released as an EP. In addition to the films and EP, the MUSE collection includes a coffee table book consisting of original photos taken by Harold Julian and poems composed by Graham, as well as interviews with prominent tastemakers and entertainers. The book will be released through Foundry Literary and Media.

“I was inspired to create a capsule collection that encompasses film, music, literature and art, centered on an artist’s muse,” says Graham. “What that abstract concept meant to me, and how I could turn what inspires me into something the world could understand, was profoundly compelling. I had yet to see a capsule collection presented this way, so I teamed up with my friends to create it. I’ve always been a fan of French films and filmmakers. Stylistically, I knew I wanted to incorporate the attitude of film noir into the project. I am most often known as an actor and as a music artist. I did not want to abandon these aspects of my art, so I made Muse.”

“Kat is a hyper-talented creative person and I was thrilled to collaborate with her on Muse,” says Genet. “I instantly connected with her concept and the more we talked about the project, the more visual it became for me. As a longtime fan of film noir, French New Wave and street photographers like Sophie Calle and Saul Leiter, the opportunity to create a series of films with that tone in mind was irresistible. The songs moved me to work with Kat to create a stylized, complicated narrative where passion inspires and consumers our characters.”

“When Kat first mentioned her idea of producing a trilogy of songs that also told a captivating narrative visually, I immediately drew a clear musical picture in my head. It was a blast combining her strength and my French background to create something really different and fun,” says Graham’s longtime music producer collaborator Jean-Yves “Jeeve” Ducornet (Britney Spears, Foxes/Matthew Koma/Giorgio Moroder, Santana).

MUSE is the first film through Graham’s Panthera Pictures production company. Previously, the artist sold shows to ATV (now Dreamworks), as well as Maker Studios (Disney).
