News: Starz Original Series <i>Vida</i> Begins Production on S2 and Adds Raúl Castillo and Adrian Gonzalez to the Cast 1Santa Monica, Calif. – August 15, 2018 – Starz, a Lionsgate company (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), will begin production on the expanded 10-episode second season of original series “Vida” on Monday, August 20th. Critically lauded for its authentic storytelling and Latinx representation, filming will resume again in locations all around Los Angeles. Series creator and executive producer Tanya Saracho (“How to Get Away With Murder,” “Looking,” “Girls”) will make her directorial debut inseason two, which will delve deeper into the lives of Lyn and Emma, two Mexican-American sisters who return home to the eastside of L.A. to face the past and secrets left behind by their late mother as they search for their future.

The new season welcomes Raúl Castillo (“Looking,” Amexicano, We the Animals) and Adrian Gonzalez (“Superstore,” “Your Family or Mine”) to the cast in two new recurring roles. Castillo plays ‘Baco,’ the bar’s new handyman with a questionable past, and Gonzalez is ‘Rudy,’ an L.A. city councilman who Lyn meets at a gym class.

Raúl Castillo is an actor in film, television, and theater, best known for his portrayal of Richie on the acclaimed HBO series “Looking,” and subsequent telefilm, Looking: The Movie which earned him an award for Best Comedic Actor from the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) and received the Lupe Award from the National Association of Latino Independent Producers. Castillo made his feature film debut in 2007 with Amexicano and went on to star in numerous films including Cold Weather, Don’t Let Me Drown, My Best Day, The Girl, andBless Me, Ultima. Later this year, Castillo is set to star in the indie film El Chicano, and in the theatrical release of We the Animals, based on the Justin Torres novel of the same name.

Adrian Gonzalez is a graduate of Northwestern and has appeared on “Superstore” for NBC, “Kevin From Work” for ABC Family and a recurring role on the TBS show “Your Family or Mine.”

“Vida” stars Melissa Barrera (“Club de Cuervos”) as Lyn, Mishel Prada (“Fear The Walking Dead: Passage”) as Emma, Ser Anzoategui (“East Los High”) as Eddy, Chelsea Rendon (Bright) as Marisol, Carlos Miranda (The Bling Ring) as Johnny, and the previously announced Roberta Colindrez (“I Love Dick”) as Nico. The series is created and executive produced by Tanya Saracho alongside Big Beach TV’s Robin Schwartz, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub with Stephanie Langhoff (“Togetherness,” “The Bronze,” “The Skeleton Twins”).

Senior Vice President of Original Programming Marta Fernandez and Director of Original Programming Kathleen Clifford are the Starz executives in charge of “Vida.”
