Sarah Michelle Geller has plenty of fans from her days on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, all thrilled to see her return to television in her new role as the star of CW’s Ringer, where she plays twins. In talking about her role at The CW’s 2011 Summer TCA panel for Ringer at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday, August 4th, and the challenges of playing a dual role, she commented, “They actually cloned me. In explaining further, she said, “There’s so much more that’s available now between face replacement and the stop‑motion cameras. So during the pilot, we played with all of them — it’s kind of like kids with new toys — to figure out what works best. Ultimately what you find is, even though there is all this technology … the heart of the scene is two people talking to each other.”
Geller was a good sport throughout the afternoon, especially when it came to her age. “What did you think?” she asked laughingly. “That I should be, like, 70?” When the reporter continued along that line about the stunts she might have to do, Geller offered up a very snarky response, “Well, due to my advanced age, they’re cutting them down a little bit because we are a little worried about the osteoporosis.”
Gellar will play the dual role of twin sisters, Bridget/Siobhan. Bridget is the sole witness to a murder, and goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin sister – only to learn that her sister’s seemingly idyllic life is just as complicated and dangerous as the one she’s trying to leave behind.
The series stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Bridget and Siobhan, Kristoffer Polaha as Henry, Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, Nestor Carbonell as Agent Victor Machado and Tara Summers as Gemma.
