  1. Hi! My God, you really enjoyed the movie. Most reviews I read are very bad. I am Portuguese. I saw the movie on Monday with my 10 year old nephew. The movie is not as bad as most people are saying. In fact I think it’s just about the money. It was just too expensive and Disney isn’t getting the money back soon enough. If it was making money it would be considered good. But we know that a lot of movies make money and are not that good. I’m a movie goer since ever and I know american and european movies as well. John Carter isn’t perfect but is enjoyable enough. I really hope there’s a sequel. My nephew loved it. And I liked it too. I disliked some dialogues and a few other things. It’s not a masterpiece but it’s fun and everything looks very nice. Look, did you watch the last Indiana Jones? I finally saw it one month ago. I was reluctant. I think it’s time for Indiana to stop. That movie bored me too much. But it’s kind of sacred and untouchable, right? Blade Runner. I saw it many, many years ago and loved it. Europe loved it. It was a deception at USA. But with time everyone grew to love it! Sometimes I don’t understand the market. Nor the public. But I hope there’s a John Carter 2!( I also hate zombies and love chocolate…and a good wine!)

    1. Yes, I did. I thought it was visually stunning, the effects were amazing – especially for 3D! And the movie was enjoyable. The actors were good and I loved the story of how John Carter got to Barsoom from Earth and the journal he’d written for his nephew. It was clever. I agree with you on the cost of the movie’s special effects and Disney’s inability to reap the financial gains immediately. They just had poor marketing. Very basic and they just didn’t target their audience better. Granted they had two newbies handling their marketing for them, with a film of this magnitude cost wise, they should have been more aggressive with their campaign. More TV spots; more innovative ads; and etc. I really would love to see sequels from this film but I think with them taking this stance on the first film, it most likely won’t get a 2nd film. Such a shame. I really did enjoy it! Glad you and your nephew liked it too! And as you mentioned about the last Indiana Jones (Crystal Skull) – yes, that was not the best. I love the original triology so for them to fudge up the 4th film really peeved me. Thank you so much for reading my review and commenting!!
