I absolutely adore Julia Ormond. I loved her in Smilla’s Sense of Snow and Legends of the Fall. Of course, I was entranced by her portrayal of the beautiful witch Joanna Beauchamp on Lifetime’s Witches of East End, but I’m excited to see her in this new role on Syfy.
In a press release:
EMMY AWARD WINNER JULIA ORMOND SIGNS ON TO STAR IN SYFY’S INCORPORATED PILOT Series is Produced by Pearl Street Films with CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions
NEW YORK – July 30, 2015 – Syfy announced today it has cast Julia Ormond (Sabrina, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) to star in Incorporated, a futuristic espionage thriller pilot from Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Pearl Street Productions, CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions. Ormond joins previously announced cast members Sean Teale (Reign), Georgina Haig (Once Upon a Time) and Eddie Ramos (Teen Wolf).
Set in a future where companies have seemingly unlimited power, Incorporated centers around Ben Larson (Teale), a young executive who risks everything to infiltrate an all-controlling corporate world and save the woman he loves. In the process, he will take on the entire system — with deadly consequences. Syfy greenlit the pilot in April, which is scheduled to commence production later this year.
Ormond will play Ben’s mother-in-law, Elizabeth, a whip-smart, powerful top executive who enjoys the perks of her position, but is also trapped in a ruthless system that demands results. Ben lives with wife Laura (Haig), Elizabeth’s daughter, in the lush, manicured Green Zone of the well-to-do, while Theo (Ramos) dwells in the dangerous, poverty-stricken Red Zone, and may provide a surprising connection to Ben’s past. In a high-stakes world where the ethical boundaries we know have been completely redrawn, how far is Ben willing to go — and what happens if he fails?
Hailing from the UK, Ormond has starred in epic films such as Legends of the Fall alongside Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins plus played the lead opposite Harrison Ford in Sydney Pollack’s Sabrina. In 2008, she teamed-up with Brad Pitt again in the fantasy- drama The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and also worked with Benicio del Toro in Steven Soderbergh’s biopic Che. On the small screen, Ormond received an Emmy® Award in 2010 for her role in the HBO movie Temple Grandin and in 2012 was nominated for a second Emmy® for her guest role on Mad Men. Ormond is repped at Creative Partners Group and Gersh.
Incorporated is created by David and Alex Pastor (Selfless, The Last Days), who wrote and will direct the pilot. Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife) will serve as executive producer/showrunner, with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Todd also executive producing. Pearl Street Film’s Margaret Chernin will serve as associate producer.
