Jeremy Renner may be one of the busiest men in Hollywood these days – with roles in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, in post-production for a December release; Thor, which has a release date of May 6, 2011; The Avengers, in pre-production to be released May 2012; Hansel and Gretel:Witch Hunters, currently filming for a March 2012 release; and Better Living Through Chemistry, in pre-production for a 2013 release – but he’s not that busy that he’d turn down the offer to star in screenwriter/director Tony Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy. After he finished filming The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007, Matt Damon announced he wouldn’t be returning to the Bourne franchise. But Renner won’t be playing Jason Bourne – he’ll be playing a new role as another government operative, leaving the role of Jason Bourne open should Damon change his mind.
Renner was nominated for an Academy Award for his roles in The Hurt Locker and The Town, but my favorite memory of him is his role as Detective Jason Walsh in the tv series, The Unusuals.
