Jeffrey Donovan Talks About His New Film Villains and Addresses Possible Return of Burn Notice 1VILLAINSMickey (Bill Skarsgård) and Jules (Maika Monroe), two amateur criminals, find themselves seeking a new getaway vehicle after their car breaks down following a gas station robbery. While on the run, they come across the home of George (Jeffrey Donovan) and Gloria (Kyra Sedgwick). Searching the residence, Mickey and Jules discover some surprising things in their basement — secrets George and Gloria can never let leave the house.

The dark comedy is co-written and co-directed by Robert Olsen and Dan Berk and premiered at SXSW in Austin, Texas. During the red carpet screening, I spoke to the directors, as well as actor Jeffrey Donovan who stars in the film.

Talking to those in the entertainment industry is always enjoyable but there’s an added pleasure hearing from young directors as they find their voices through their films. I loved hearing the passion in Olsen and Berk’s voices as they described their movie and how they settled any creative differences while writing and filming. Despite being new to the scene, Olsen and Berk have created a quirky comedy in the vein of a Coen Brothers film that’s worth checking out when it arrives in theaters later this year

As a fan of USA Network’s series Burn Notice, which ran from 2007-2013, I was excited to talk to Donovan. As much as I enjoyed discussing his experience working with two young up and coming directors, I couldn’t resist asking about Burn Notice given all the shows being brought back these days. What do you think about his answer in the clip below?

Jeffrey Donovan Talks About His New Film Villains and Addresses Possible Return of Burn Notice 2One of the fun things about working a red carpet is the looks my tiny Mevo camera gets. Even with the added battery pack, it’s small in size compared to everyone else’s equipment on the carpet. Initially, I planned on cutting out Donovan’s reaction to the camera as he approached me but in talking to my editor, we felt the lighthearted moment shows a kindhearted side to Donovan that fans will enjoy.

Check out my conversation with Olsen, Berk, and Donovan below.

I provide testosterone to the site. You won’t be reading about how nice a actress looks in a dress or how much of a hunk Matt Bomer is in my reviews. I describe colors using words like brown, not taupe. My twitter name is @staffaroadtrip because I love road trips and have done two different 48-state road trips since 2008. My favorite show is White Collar.
