What a rollercoaster episode! Running the gamut from thrilling to revealing to just plain sad, I was left feeling a mix of emotions—which was a good thing. “Lachlan’s Gambit” was a terrific buildup to the season finale.

There were strange happenings, with animals exhibiting odd behavior and snakes disappearing from the local zoo. Bo (Anna Silk) offered a quip that’d make Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) proud: “Snakes on a plane?” Bo should’ve been scared, though, because this was a sign The Garuda (Raoul Trujillo) was near. The threat was real, and everyone’s lives were at stake. The unfortunate deaths of key characters saddened me but it wasn’t unexpected. Lives were going to end abruptly. Such was the outcome of a great battle.

Ciara helps the team face The Garuda

But, what a wonderful surprise we got when Bo was confronted by The Garuda’s henchmen and in walked Ciara (Lina Roessler) and Det. Hale (K.C. Collins). It was good to see Ciara after her abrupt departure as I wasn’t expecting her to return. Dyson’s (Kris Holden-Ried) unintended rejection all but made her disappear but once she got word of The Garuda, her dedication to the Fae forced her to come back. Now that’s loyalty. I may want Dyson to be with Bo, but Ciara and Dyson’s last romp in bed before the big battle gave me a little heart squeeze. The scene with them lying in bed together was actually very sweet; it was like there had been no distance between them. It was an easy and languid connection where they were comfortable with each other. Of course, they do have a history that spans decades.

The appearance of a smelly Mole named Alastor (Martin Julien) forced Trick (Rick Howland) to torture him for information but Bo wouldn’t have it. Is she really that naïve, expecting truth and information to be extracted without force, especially with the Mole playing both sides in an impending war? I agree with Trick that she needs to grow a thicker skin and stop being so moralistic about inflicting injury. War is ugly so get used to it, Bo.

Dyson, Bo and Kenzi face off against The Garuda

As for Kenzi, she was reliably inefficient but proved helpful. As the sole human in the battle, she’s been most useful as moral support for Bo and the team. When Dyson appeared, she was the one who greeted him like a long-lost friend. She may not have the physical strength for battle but she does have a will all her own. Her steadfastness and loyalty are not to be messed with. I like to think she will be rewarded in some way for her loyalty.

Am I the only one who was annoyed by Lauren (Zoie Palmer) visiting Bo and expecting to sleep in her bed while she vented about Nadia? But Bo, who was suffering her own guilt about taking Nadia’s life, willingly listened and offered comfort while sharing her own doubts about Dyson: “Let’s just hope that Dyson really is the chosen one.” This little comment bugged me because hasn’t Dyson proved his loyalty to her and the Light Fae, even after he lost his love for her? He’s backed her up time and again. Although, I can understand her reticence as The Ash (Vincent Walsh) proved unworthy of HER loyalty. I suppose I should allow her some leeway no matter how much I adore Dyson.

The faceoff between The Ash and The Garuda was ace. This was a terrific scene, with the two circling in the middle of The Ash’s lair, while the camera panned out. The tension was just right, and I could’ve sworn there was low-key music playing in the background. Anyhow, it all worked.

In two weeks, the finale will be here. Will you be ready?

Terrible review another bios against Lauren, pretty sad when someone who writes these reviews can not give equal to all characters, a review writer is suppose be mutual but once again a bios close minded person who just wants Dyson and Bo back together review ughh
