The title of this week’s installment of Grimm is a play on the old phrase “cry wolf,” and aptly, “Cry Luison” deals with a wealthy heiress who claims to be taunted by a talking wolf, driving her closer and closer to the brink of a mental breakdown. Meanwhile, the potion Elizabeth (Louise Lomard) made to help Nick (David Giuntoli) has specific requirements, one of which Nick may not want to utilize. Plus, the news of Nick’s Grimm status has been accidentally circulated by our favorite ice beaver wesen Bud (guest star Danny Bruno), who comes calling on Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) to help save Nick’s life.

After Nick and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) learn what must be done to restore Nick’s Grimm powers, the tension in the room becomes so thick, you could cut it with a knife. In order for Nick to become a Grimm again, Juliette must inhale the potion through the witch’s hat, exactly like Adalind (Claire Coffee) did, and then make love to Nick. The hitch – Juliette will look like Adalind. Needless to say, both Nick and Juliette are revolted by the notion. After all, Adalind tried to kill them at one point. Their relationship with Adalind is very convoluted, especially since Nick’s mother Kelly (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) has the baby now and both are in hiding. But does Nick want to be a Grimm again? The conversation Trubel overhears as she heads upstairs for bed seems to lean in a more negative direction. Don’t believe everything you hear, Trubel.

Gabriel is a very doting husband...perhaps too attentive.

The case of the import/export heiress Eva (guest star Jacqueline Obradors) and her husband Gabriel (Julian Acosta) falls into possible wesen territory when Nick and Hank (Russell Hornsby) investigate the hit and run accident Eva is in that leaves a jogger dead. Gabriel, a doctor from Brazil, tells the detectives his bride of eight months, Eva, is taking anti-psychotic medication and has been mentally unstable since they moved back to Portland from Brazil.

Eva claims to see a wolf dressed in a dapper suit, complete with ascot, who taunts her. Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) confirm the drawings Eva made of the wolf is a wesen of South American origin known as the “Luison.” The way they say it, it sounds French but what do I know, right? Eva sees the wolf everywhere – in the kitchen handing her a drink, in the garage, and even in the back seat of her car as she mows down the jogger. How can this wolf be in so many places at once? Is Eva really seeing things or is this wolf a figment of her imagination? One thing I’ve learned in the past three seasons of Grimm is looks can be deceiving.

I think Trubel is right, there will be more wesen like Shaw who will want to come after Nick.

Meanwhile, Bud comes knocking on Nick’s door but he’s not there to see Nick. Bud needs a favor from Trubel to help a friend’s kid who is being bullied in school by another wesen. This is all a ruse, of course. After Nick leaves, thinking Trubel can handle some grade school bully, Bud excitedly reveals the real reason he needs Trubel’s help. He innocently let it slip that Nick isn’t a Grimm anymore, and now, Shaw (Donald MacEllis), a wesen Nick threatened in the past wants revenge. Bud is hoping Trubel can reason with Shaw but Trubel isn’t interested in talking. Trubel does an excellent job of showing Shaw who’s boss. Not only that, but when he woges in front of her, he backs down immediately when he sees she’s a Grimm. Ah, but Trubel being Trubel, she wants to leave a lasting impression so she whips out her machete and gives Shaw a little something to remember her by.

A blast from the past presents itself during “Cry Luison” when Josh Porter (Lucas Near-Verbrugghe), the son of Rolek Porter (Sam Anderson), a Grimm we met in season three’s, “The Inheritance,” finds his Philadephia home ransacked and two intruders still inside. They look like they are part of the Verrat under Prince Viktor’s (Alexis Denisof) jurisdiction. Josh knows they’re looking for “the key,” but he gave it to Nick. I’m ready to learn more about the keys and the map they make. I hope we get some answers before Grimm’s winter hiatus. It is curious that Josh isn’t a Grimm but his father was. I thought it was hereditary. Could Josh’s Grimm gene be dormant or maybe, he’s not really Rolek’s biological son?

Oh Adalind, you can't see this is all an illusion.

Oh Adalind, you can’t see this is all an illusion.

Back in Austria, Adalind is having a rough time. Her dungeon friend Hofman (guest star David Ury) tries to warn her not to listen to all the sounds around her but Adalind has a one-track mind when it comes to finding her baby. When Hofman, who turns into a golden key, tells her to go through a door to the “door on the other side,” he promises she will be free. Simple, right? Well, when you put a cradle with a crying baby in the middle of the room, it’s hard for a desperate mother not to stop and pick up her missing baby. Too bad the baby isn’t really a baby but a squealing piglet. If Adalind had gone straight to the “door on the other side,” would she really have been free from the castle? Unfortunately, this is all a master illusion Viktor concocts to make Adalind more agreeable to his whims. What completely throws me for a loop is what Viktor says to Adalind, “To get our child back.” Wait, what? The baby’s father is Captain Sean Renard’s (Sasha Roiz). Does Viktor mean “our child” in a more familial way since he is Sean’s cousin or did Adalind sleep with Viktor at one point in time?

Overall

“Cry Luison” is a very entertaining episode full of twists and unexpected turns. Gabriel turns out to be the Luison along with his three brothers – identical quadruplets. The ending is where things really get intriguing. When a wooden stake in the shape of a wesen symbol is set on fire outside Monroe and Rosalee’s house, Juliette makes a bold statement to Nick, “You need to be a Grimm again.” Wow! I can’t wait for next week’s episode.
