I know I’m giving away my age but I have loved listening to the band Genesis since they first began recording in the 60s. Since then, they’ve gone on to become a multi-Platinum selling band that sells out stadiums all over the world, gaining new die-hard fans everywhere they go. Now, their documentary, Genesis – Sum of the Parts, premiering on Friday, October 10 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Showtime®, hopes to gain new fans for the Grammy®-winning band, as well as remind all fans of their storied legacy.

LOS ANGELES, CA – (September 15, 2014) – Invisible Touch, Throwing It All Away, Against All Odds, In the Air Tonight, Sledgehammer, I Can’t Dance, In Your Eyes…just a few of the songs that defined a generation from an iconic band and its individual members who have defied genre over their nearly five-decade run, both together and apart. GENESIS – SUM OF THE PARTS, a 90-minute documentary premiering Friday, October 10th at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on SHOWTIME, reunites the multi-Platinum-selling, Grammy®-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band to tell personal accounts of their rise to fame and fortune, first with Peter Gabriel and later Phil Collins as lead vocalists, and through their respective solo careers. Made with the full cooperation of the band, the documentary features previously unseen archive material and rare performance footage illuminating their storied trajectory.
GENESIS – SUM OF THE PARTS features core band members Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford discussing the backstories of their creating more than 15 albums (selling some 130 million worldwide) – from their beginnings as songwriters in the late 1960s to their full-blown, stadium-sell-out, MTV-fueled success of the ‘70s and ‘80s to their final incarnation as prog-rock giants in the ‘90s. Throughout various band member departures and returns, Genesis never ceased to both thrill and confuse their die-hard fans while attracting new disciples with their ever-evolving, dynamic, pop-rock music style. The documentary seeks to indoctrinate the next generation of Genesis fans and remind young and old alike of their legacy and long-standing influence.
