The 30th installment of the Chicago Motorcycle Show featuring celebrity appearances by Sons of Anarchy (Sons) actors Theo Rossi (Juice) and Kim Coates (Tig) on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Your Entertainment Corner was there to cover the event, and was granted exclusive access to the Super VIP breakfast with the actors.
Coates and Rossi arrived at the Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Center early, ready to mingle with Sons fans. During the breakfast, fans had an up close and personal opportunity to greet the actors, take tons of photos, and secure cherished autographs. Given Coates’ and Rossi’s laid back and friendly nature, the discussion quickly turned into a friendly Q&A session—first centering on season six’s finale highlights, to how a character’s popularity could vary according to storylines, and then speculation about what will transpire during the show’s next and final season. “Whatever happens in the last season, I don’t know what it’s going to be but I know there’s not that many of us left,” Rossi pointed out. Coates answered in jest, “It’s going to be called ‘The Son of Anarchy’ or as Kurt [Sutter] said, ‘The Mother of the Sons of Anarchy.’”
We also learned about a certain nickname earned by Coates during a nude scene, and how this past season Juice’s Liberace bike got its name. (Charlie Hunnam may have something to do with the reference…)
When I asked Rossi about his character’s desire to be a good guy, and how that could be impacted by the finale’s sequence of events, he gave a revealing answer, which can be seen in the video below.
In terms of future projects, the actors shared their expectations to be very busy. Coates expressed his readiness to have his own TV show after Sons ends, while Rossi revealed his next film, Bad Hurt, is set to begin production on February 10. Rossi will be playing the lead and the movie is a project through his production company.
Last but not least, Rossi and Coates shared their plans to continue their strong involvement with charities during the remainder of the year. They reiterated their commitment to the Boot Campaign and One Heart Source, as well as Staten Strong, where they plan on tackling education initiatives next.
As the breakfast came to a close, the actors moved on to take part in a series of “Meet & Greet” sessions that would go late into the afternoon. Through it all, Rossi and Coates showcased characteristic playfulness that seems to be the centerpiece of their friendship, as well as their amazement and appreciation for the show’s devoted following.
