SAN DIEGO, CA – JUNE 20, 2015 – Celebrities and industry luminaries will unite at San Diego’s 2015 Comic-Con to help create world peace at the inaugural Geeks for Peace event. Geeks for Peace will be held at the trendy Moniker Warehouse on Friday, July 10th at 7:00pm and will include music, dancing, live art, art auction, an interactive photo wall, plus organic food & drink. Street artist Mr. DVice will create an 8’ x 8’ Comic-Con inspired mural at the event for auction. Additional art curated by Lori Zimmer and Natalie Kates will be available for auction on Paddle8 beginning June 26, and features world-class work from professional artists such as Buff Monster, Jeff Soto, Elbow Toe, Swoon, Tara McPherson, Logan Hicks, Shark Toof, Sket One, Olek and more.

The idea of Geeks for Peace was conceived by Morgan Spurlock after being presented the Peace Hero Award by the youth of Kids for Peace in 2013. Kids for Peace children from all over the world selected Spurlock as their 2013 Peace Hero for his commitment to kids, peace, healthy living and using his voice for good. During the heart-warming Peace Hero ceremony, Spurlock was so touched by the mission, vision and impact of Kids for Peace that he said, “I want to support these kids and their determination to create a peaceful world.” With Kids for Peace headquarted in San Diego County, Spurlock went on to say, “We should throw a party with all my geeky friends during San Diego’s Comic-Con.” From that, Geeks for Peace was born.

Funds raised during Geeks for Peace will help Kids for Peace support and expand their programs to underserved youth in the U.S., Pakistan, Iraq, Liberia and Kenya.
