News: Jillian Bell Joins Ben Schwartz In Showtime’s New Comedy The Wrong Mans From EPs James Corden and J.J. Abrams
SHOWTIME has announced the casting of Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street) in a lead role of the half-hour comedy pilot THE WRONG MANS, also starring and produced by Ben Schwartz (HOUSE OF LIES). Executive Produced by James Corden (The Late Late Show with James Corden), Mathew Baynton (Yonderland) and Ian Maxtone-Graham (The Simpsons). J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), BBC Studios’ Angie Stephenson and Bad Robot’s Ben Stephenson also serve as executive producers. The Wrong Mans is based on the BBC series created by Corden and Baynton.

News: Comedian Julian McCollough To Host Shark Week’s Late Night Talk Show Shark After Dark Starting July 22.
Get your snorkels ready, because it’s time dive into deep dark waters with the return of SHARK WEEK’s hit late-night talk show SHARK AFTER DARK, back in its original LIVE format. The show returns for its sixth year with all-new host, actor, writer, producer and comedian Julian McCullough, star of the Comedy Central hour special Maybe I’m a Man and known for his appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening and winner of New York’s Funniest comedy competition. For five nights, McCullough will bring the fin and games as he chats with celebrity guests, shark fans and shark experts, among many others live on SHARK AFTER DARK. And swimming back from the depths of the deep blue sea for his late-night appearance is America’s favorite cartilaginous sidekick Bob the Shark. News: Stephen Frears to Direct Comedy Series State of the Union Starring Rosamund Pike and Chris O’Dowd for Sundance TV and Sundance Now.
Critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning film and TV director Stephen Frears (A Very English Scandal, Philomena) is set to direct the ten-part short form comedy series ‘State of the Union’ written by the Academy Award®-nominated and BAFTA-winning writer Nick Hornby (Brooklyn, An Education) and starring Academy Award® and BAFTA-nominated Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Hostiles) and BAFTA-nominated Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, ‘Get Shorty’. Shooting will commence in summer 2018 in London. See-Saw Films is producing the series for SundanceTV. A series of ten by ten-minute episodes, ‘State of the Union’ follows Louise and Tom (Pike and O’Dowd) who meet in a pub immediately before their weekly marital therapy session. With each successive episode we piece together how their lives were, what drew them together and what has started to pull them apart. News: Chadwick Boseman to Star and Produce Action-Thriller 17 Bridges For STX Films.
STXfilms announced that Chadwick Boseman, the breakout star of this year’s blockbuster hit Black Panther, will star in and produce the studio’s upcoming action-thriller 17 BRIDGES alongside his writing and producing partner Logan Coles. Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo are set to produce and Mike Larocca will executive produce the film under their AGBO banner. Brian Kirk (Luther, Game of Thrones) is attached to direct the script written by Adam Mervis (The Philly Kid). 17 BRIDGES follows a disgraced NYPD detective (Boseman) who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption. The film will go into production in September 2018.

News: Funimation Acquires Dragon Ball Super: Broly Movie For Theatrical Release in 2019, International Distribution by 20th Century Fox. Seven Cities Tour Begins July 19 at San Diego Comic-Con.
Earth’s mightiest Saiyan Goku is set to return to U.S. and Canadian theaters with announcement that Funimation® Films has acquired the theatrical rights to the new Dragon Ball Super movie, entitled “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” This is the twentieth film in the Dragon Ball franchise and is based on the story, screenplay and character designs of original creator Akira Toriyama. As part of its distribution agreement with producer Toei Animation and the film’s international distributor Twentieth Century Fox, Funimation also secured the home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the film. This latest agreement builds on the 22-year long partnership between Toei Animation and Funimation, which has contributed to the global success and pop culture status of the Dragon Ball franchise. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is anticipated to release in January 2019. The theatrical dates for the film’s run will be announced later. Dragon Ball North America Tour 2018 will encompass a total of seven cities in the U.S. and Canada and will launch this July at San Diego Comic-Con with a special panel on July 19th that features key contributors to the film as well as celebrity fans.

News: Freeform Announces Exciting Casting for Christmas Features Life Size 2 and No Sleep ‘Til Christmas.
Freeform doubled down on their promise to make the holiday season bigger than ever by announcing casting for two original holiday movies. Actors Francia Raisa (“grown-ish”), Charles Michael Davis (“Younger”), Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Moesha”), Gavin Stenhouse (“Allegiance”), Shanica Knowles (“The Young & the Restless”), Alphonso McAuley (“The Middle”), Hank Chen (“The New 30”) and Alison Fernandez (“Once Upon a Time”), as well as the previously announced Dave Annable (“Yellowstone”) and Odette Annable (“Supergirl”), have all been cast to star in holiday films airing during Freeform’s “25 Days of Christmas” annual programming event. Both projects will start production this month.
