News: Production Begins on Walkaway Joe Starring David Strathairn, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Julian Feder and Julie Ann Emery
SwingLake Entertainment has announced the start of production on WALKAWAY JOE, as Tom Wright’s directorial debut. Wright is known for his acting work in PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, BARBERSHOP, and RAY DONOVAN. From writer Michael Milillo (CHURCHILL), WALKAWAY JOE is the story of an unlikely friendship between a teenage boy searching for his father and a wandering loner hiding from his past. When Dallas’ pool-hustling father abandons his family, Dallas takes to his bicycle to find him. Dallas is determined to bring his father home. Enter Joe Haley, a drifter wrestling with a past he’d rather forget. Feeling responsible for the boy’s safety, Joe reluctantly takes him in.

News: Starz Announces Multi-Year Overall Deal with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson
Starz announced its renewed commitment to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson by signing him to a new four-year, exclusive premium overall deal. Under the deal Jackson, an executive producer for the hit series “Power,” will continue to develop new scripted and unscripted projects exclusively for the network through his G-Unit Film & Television, Inc. banner, the production company launched by Jackson.

News: Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano Join Season 17 of Bravo’s Project Runway
Bravo Media’s “Project Runway” has tapped supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss as the host along with former “Project Runway” champion and celebrated CFDA fashion designer Christian Siriano as the mentor for the newly rebooted Emmy Award-winning franchise. Kloss will also serve as executive producer. In addition, ELLE Editor-in-Chief Nina Garcia returns to the series, joined by famed fashion designer Brandon Maxwell and journalist and former Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Elaine Welteroth as judges. The announcement was made today by Shari Levine, Executive Vice President, Current Production, Bravo. The series is currently in pre-production and will premiere in 2019.

Video/Photos: Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Premieres Jan 17 on CBS All Access
At Comic-Con International, “Star Trek” fans were provided a sneak peek at the highly anticipated season two premiere episode of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY during the series’ Hall H panel with cast and executive producers. The second season is slated to return to CBS All Access in early 2019. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY co-creator and executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who directed the season two premiere, also announced at today’s panel the plan for STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS. The four SHORT TREKS episodes will roll out monthly beginning this fall, and will be stand-alone stories, each running approximately 10-15 minutes. Each short will be an opportunity for deeper storytelling and exploration of key characters and themes which fit into STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and the expanding “Star Trek” universe.

News: Fox Orders Additional Nine Episodes For Season 2 of Medical Drama The Resident
FOX has ordered nine additional episodes of the sophomore series THE RESIDENT, raising the second season order to 22 episodes. THE RESIDENT is a powerful medical show focusing on a young doctor’s final years of training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. News: The CW Announces Original Programming for Summer 2019
Continuing to bulk up its slate of original summer programming, The CW Network has acquired the British action drama BULLETPROOF from Sky Vision and ordered second seasons of the legal drama BURDEN OF TRUTH, starring Kristin Kreuk, and the fantasy-adventure series THE OUTPOST; all are set to air in Summer 2019. The CW has also ordered new seasons of the hit magic series PENN & TELLER: FOOL US and MASTERS OF ILLUSION, and the classic improv comedy WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? for Summer 2019. Premiere dates and times will be announced later.

News/Video: Bravo’s Limited Series Dirty John Premieres November 25
Julia Garner (“Ozark”) and Juno Temple (“Vinyl,” “Wonder Wheel,” “Black Mass”) have joined the cast of Bravo Media’s “Dirty John” as the daughters of Debra Newell (Connie Britton), who are both skeptical about their mother’s relationship with John Meehan (Eric Bana). Joining the previously announced Jean Smart who will play Debra’s mother Arlane, Garner will star as Terra Newell, while Temple will star as Veronica Newell. The scripted anthology series, based on the articles and breakout true crime podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard, tells the true story of how Debra’s romance with the charismatic John Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation.

DEADLY CLASS is set in the counter-culture of the late 1980s and tells the story of a teenager who is recruited into an elite private school filled with the children of crime families and affluent criminals. It’ll track these social circles as they try to survive “ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques” and the adolescent uncertainties that transcend even the most dangerous of high school settings. Put simply, high school has never been this deadly. The network describes the project as a “coming of age journey full of ancient mystery and teen angst.”

Video/News: Freeform’s Mermaid Drama Siren Season 2 Premieres Jan 24
Freeform announced that the sophomore season of the critically acclaimed mermaid drama “SIREN” will premiere on THURSDAY, JAN. 24. Executive Producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald also announced a contest where fans of the show can enter for a chance to swim with the mermaids on the set of “Siren” and have his or her photo featured in the show. Launching on Oct. 18, Freeform will select a winner from among the top 10 most voted photos. This spring, the winner will be flown to Vancouver to visit the set.
