Billy Crystal’s Award Winning Broadway Show, “700 Sundays,” Comes to HBO

Billy Crystal has long been one of my all-time favorite actor/comedians. He cracked me up in such movies as the 1989 iconic movie, When Harry Met Sally, and the 1999 laughfest, Analyze This, as well as his brilliant turn as Jodie Dallas in one of television’s funniest nighttime soaps ever, Soap. So I am beyond excited to see Crystal’s new special, 700 Sundays, debuting April 19, 2014 at 9:00 pm ET/PT on HBO. 700 Sundays is Crystal’s sixth HBO special and is an adaption of his autobiographical long running, Tony-winning Broadway show.

Granny is Back. Review: The Americans – “A Little Night Music”

Granny is Back. Review: The Americans – “A Little Night Music” 2

“A Little Night Music” is a good episode, with plenty of intrigue at the end. The fight scene is extremely well choreographed, and the dialogue throughout sharp and particularly believable. Things don’t go as easily for the Jennings in “A Little Night Music” as they’ve gone in the past. This may be the first time The Americans leaves us with such a surprising cliffhanger at the end of an episode. Were you as shocked by what happens as I was?

Exclusive! Executive Producer Josh Berman Talks About Drop Dead Diva’s Sixth and Final (?) Season 3

On Wednesday, March 12, 2014, I had the distinct pleasure of once again interviewing Josh Berman, creator, writer, and executive producer of Lifetime’s hit series, Drop Dead Diva. He is such a sincere and personable man, it felt like I was speaking with my best friend. He even gave me his personal email address! (I’m not giving it out so don’t ask!) We reminisced about the award-winning series, his favorite story arc, what to expect in season six, and yes, whether this truly will be the final season.

How Safe is Anyone, Really? Review: The Americans - "Cardinal" 5

There isn’t one thing to dislike in “Cardinal.” There’s danger, irony, suspicious actions, double agents, heartbreaking emotions, smart dialogue, and the fantastic acting we’ve come to expect from everyone in The Americans.

Interview: Matthew Rhys Talks Season 2 of The Americans 6

As a huge fan of The Americans (I reviewed the show last season here on YEC), I was thrilled to participate in a conference call last Friday with Matthew Rhys, star of FX’s hit political series. He plays Philip Jennings, husband to Keri Russell’s Elizabeth. Matthew was very forthcoming with his answers and discussed some of the things we can expect to see in season two of the Cold War/Reagen-age dramatic series.

It’s Good to be Home Again. Advance Review of Season Two Premiere: The Americans – “Comrades” 7

If fans were worried that the second season of The Americans wouldn’t be as great as the first, worry no more. Season two is masterful at its storytelling; it’s intriguing, captivating, charismatic, and full of the deceit, treachery, sexual escapades, and even more irony than we saw in its freshman season. This is definitely on my must-see TV list this season, and should be on yours.

As far as season premieres go, “Simple Pleasures” does an excellent job of making you feel like you haven’t missed one second of living with the Gallaghers as you experience all the ups and downs of their lives. Spoiler Free Advance Review: Chicago P.D. – “Stepping Stone,” “Wrong Side of the Bars,” and “Chin Check.” 18

After watching Jason Beghe play dirty cop Hank Voigt on Chicago Fire last season, I was happily anticipating his spin-off series, Chicago P.D. (CPD). I enjoyed the tension between his character and Matthew Casey, the well-liked firefighter played by Jesse Spencer on the original series. The scenes between the two were always highly charged, and you never knew what either character was going to do. It was the stuff legendary dramatic scenes, and hopefully spin-offs, are made of. But spin-offs don’t always succeed.
