Ray Donovan – “Swing Vote” Retrospective. Major Changes are Afoot. 1

“Swing Vote” focuses, for the most part, on both Terry and Bunchy’s story arcs, both of which are captivating. But the episode also shakes things up in a major way for Ray both personally and professionally. Given what happens, it will be interesting to see what’s next for Ray and the Finney family.

Power Season Two Finale – “Ghost is Dead” Review. Karma is a Bitch.

Power Season Two Finale - "Ghost is Dead" Review. Karma is a Bitch. 2

“Ghost is Dead” is quite the masterpiece! Writers Safia M. Dirie and Courtney Kemp Agboh, who is also the creator and executive producer of Power, prove how skillful they are with their complex plot points, brilliant dialogue, and twists and turns I never saw coming. Michael J. Bassett’s direction is well executed, particularly with the way he brings Dirie and Agboh’s script to life. In addition, all the stars turn in exceptional performances. The continuity of the scenes flows perfectly, leaving room for speculation on how season two will end.

Ray Donovan – “Handshake Deal” Review. A Dose of Reality.

Ray Donovan – “Handshake Deal” Review. A Dose of Reality. 4

“Handshake Deal” leads us further down the road Ray is traveling with the Finney family, while ramping up both Bunchy and Terry’s story lines this season. Writer Gina Welch intersperses some very witty dialogue with the quality dramatic dialogue we have come to expect from this season of Ray Donovan.

Power – “Time’s Up” Review. Fantasy Becomes Reality.

Power – “Time’s Up” Review. Fantasy Becomes Reality. 5

As penultimate episodes go, “Time’s Up” is right up there with the best of them. The episode builds with intensity, providing an inspired look inside Ghost’s brilliant mind, thanks to the superb writing of Raphael Jackson, Jr. and Damione Macedon, and Jim McKay’s outstanding direction. What happens in the last minute or so of “Time’s Up” had me crying out, “Oh no!” while bringing tears to my eyes.

Ray Donovan – “Breakfast of Champions” Review. Lessons Learned. 6

While we’ve seen our fair share of intense, action-packed episodes, writer Brett Johnson takes an abrupt turn in “Breakfast of Champions” as the main players turn introspective, not only concerning themselves but their relationships within the Donovan and the Finney families.

Power – “Three Moves Ahead” Review. Everyone Has a Plan. 7

“Three Moves Ahead” becomes a true game changer for #Power thanks to both Angela and Kanan. Angela may be the hero now but once Sandoval finds out the truth about her “source,” she’ll be in deep doo doo, especially since she’ll be unable to produce “him.”

Ray Donovan – “Come and Knock on Our Door” Review. When to Sell Your Soul. 8

Frankly speaking, I’m bored with Mickey and Daryll’s foray into the world of drugs and sex, and miss the tension-filled interactions between Mickey and Ray. Until “Come and Knock on Our Door,” Mickey and Daryll’s story line has been nothing more than filler. Thankfully, episodic writer David Hollander changes all that with the brilliant dialogue that highlights the intensity of Mickey and Ray’s embittered relationship.

Power– “You’re Not the Man” Review. Blind Trust. 9

So many things happen in “You’re Not the Man,” my head is spinning. You might think so many plot points would be distracting but they’re not. Each one serves a purpose—a sort of means to an end—making this episode of Power stand out even more than the previous ones.

Ray Donovan – “Ding” Retrospective. Moving Forward. 10

Writer William Wheeler provides the audience with interesting and sharp dialogue in “Ding,” while director Ed Bianchi’s expert use of camera angles, lighting, shot choices, and overall direction of the actors are what make this episode special.

Nurse Jackie Series Finale - "I Say a Little Prayer" Retrospective. The Fat Lady Has Sung. 21

Pardon me while I wipe the tears from my eyes. Not only is it a sad day for the doctors and nurses at All Saints Hospital, it’s a sad day for the fans of Nurse Jackie as “I Say a Little Prayer” bids adieu to our favorite drug addicted nurse once and for all. While the majority of the series finale is happy and fun to watch, the ending is anything but.

TV News: Sarah Silverman Checks Back Into Masters of Sex as Helen for Its Third Season 25

Hearing that famed comedian Sarah Silverman is reprising her role as Helen on Masters of Sex for its third season is welcome news, indeed. Especially since Helen and her partner Betty (Tony® Award winner Annaleigh Ashford) want to have a baby, which is quite the challenge given the era in which season three takes place. With such a hot button topic, I can’t wait to watch Masters of Sex when it premieres on July 21 at 10:00 pm ET/PT, only on Showtime.
