Review: The Vampire Diaries "Bringing Out the Dead" (Hell Hath No Fury Like... No Really. There's No Fury.) 1

Unsolved murders, surprising appearances and ass-kicking vamps hold our attention in this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries. I like that we don’t know what’s going on right away and there’s no way to truly figure things out. The writers are doing an excellent job of leaving us hanging with endings that titillate.

Review: New Girl "Jess and Julia" (Seriously, Who Doesn't Like Dessert?) 2

One thing you can always expect from New Girl is the truth. The guys are always truthful with one another and Jess can’t help but be honest. But when do they learn to keep their mouths shut in order to save someone from being hurt? “Jess and Julia” is a bit on the dramatic side but it has its funny moments.

Review: House of Lies "Microphallus" (Don’t Tell Me “Teenis” Didn’t Make You Laugh) 5

I enjoy “Microphallus” but there’s something missing. The usual laughs aren’t there because it borders on being a serious episode—dramatic rather than comedic.

Review: The Vampire Diaries "The Ties That Bind" (A Wild Hybrid Couldn't Drag Me Away) 6

I want to say this episode is excellent but I can’t. It’s good-ish but lacking that extra something. Oh but wait, we do get that something with the surprise cliffhanger ending.

Review: New Girl "Story of the 50" (I'm Getting One of Those Jars) 7

Drunken Nick antics, douchebauchery, and the Benjamin beat down don’t really redeem “Story of the 50.” If I can be honest, the Sundrop commercial during the break was funnier than the entire episode. And that’s not saying much.

Review: House of Lies - Amsterdam (Doug Loses Himself in This One!) 8

House of Lies is so much fun and I cannot wait to see what lies in store for the rest of the season. Showtime is giving all other networks a run for their money with this one.

Review: The Vampire Diaries "Our Town" (Welcome to Snoozeville... Where Birthdays are Funerals and Hybrids Run Rampant) 9

What’s happening to The Vampire Diaries I know and love? It seems we’re going down a dark path with these episodes lately. Although Stefan and Klaus (in a weird fatherly manner) totally rock this episode, I don’t feel the writers are progressing with the story.

Review: The Vampire Diaries "The New Deal" (Who's in the Locked Coffin?) 10

The return of The Vampire Diaries has finally come and I was super excited to see what the writers had in store for us. Only, I’m slightly disappointed there was no major breakthrough in the storyline we were left with last year. Yes, it was great to see the characters again and fall into the world of Mystic Falls, Virginia, but I think “The New Deal” is a filler episode—and not a great one at that.

Review: Psych "Neil Simon's Lovers Retreat" (Why Is Brandon Walsh Robbing People?) 12

For what, at times, can be ridiculous, Psych is extremely funny. I’m still enjoying the show though this is my first season watching it. Yes, I’m tardy for the party, but I say better late than never.

Review: Take A Trip Down Candy Cane Lane with New Girl "The 23rd" 14

The funny just isn’t funny enough and I wish there were more silly office party antics. Now the baby shower in last week’s “Bad in Bed” was hilarious. We need more of that.

Book Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Book Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick 15

As it sits, I probably wouldn’t recommend Hush, Hush to anyone who takes everything they read literally. It’s good for entertaining anyone above the age of 18, but skirts the line of ‘What Not to Do When Writing a Novel.’ Take that as you will.

Review: Jess is Searching for Some Syrups in New Girl "Bad in Bed" 16

“Bad in Bed” is funny in its own right, but didn’t get me like last week’s “Bells.” I was happy to see Long back for another go round and wonder if he’ll become a permanent fixture as he and Jess move to the next level in their relationship.

Review: Hung "The Whole Beefalo" The Whole Letdown (In My Opinion) 17

My first thought as the opening credits roll is, “I can’t believe we’re at the end of another great season of one of my favorite dramedies.” That said, I’m let down by this finale and want a redo. “The Whole Beefalo” is not the way to end the season.

Book Review: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Book Review: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs 18

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is by far the most fascinating, eerie and intriguing book I think I’ve ever read. It not only grips you from the first page but doesn’t let go until after you’ve finished reading.

Review: New Girl "Bells" (Rich Schmidt, MacGyver-esk Nick and Winston Plays the Bells?) 19

I continue to fall in love with New Girl as each new episode is a comedic minefield. Everything from props to character position and wardrobe is taken into consideration to create the magic.

Review: Hung "A Monkey Named Simian" or "Frances Is Not a Fan" 20

This is by far the best episode of Hung I think I’ve ever seen. It’s raw and full of emotion, bringing the drama aspect front and center. Yes, you still get a few laughs, but mostly you have heartfelt feelings which radiate well after the half hour is over.

Review: Hung "I, Sandee" or "This Sex. Which Is. Not One." 22

Review: The Walking Dead “Secrets” Apparently No One Can Keep Them

Review: The Walking Dead "Secrets" Apparently No One Can Keep Them 23

“Secrets” is all about secrets—those being kept for other people and those shared among confidantes. It’s obvious who can keep a secret and what the cost is for keeping mum. The truth always comes out though and when it does for the characters of The Walking Dead, how will they cope with the outcome?
