Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.

Cannoli never sounded so…erotic. Meow! Temperatures may be dropping in Minneapolis but libidos are heating up! From the homeless guy using the expensive gloves Cathy donates to warm up more than his hands to Dr. Atticus Sherman (guest star Alan Alda) hungrily munching on his wife Gia’s (guest star Laura Benanti) cannoli, “Fight or Flight” definitely channels some strong sexual overtones…I wonder if the writer was going through a dry spell? (LOL!)

Review: #Haven , Season 2, Ep. 209 "Lockdown" (An outbreak or just another case of the 'troubles?') 3

Could Haven be plagued with an outbreak or is this just another case of the “troubles?” My money is on the latter and with the heavy stench of betrayal in the air, the “troubled” are going to be in big…trouble. “Your kind won’t win.” An ominous threat spewing from Merrill’s blood-drenched lips; it’s moments like these that make Haven such a darkly decadent treat.

Damn you, Wilfred. I love you but I want to kick you in nuts right now. But, you know I’ll bring you an ice pack and a blunt to make up for it later. “Identity” has a purpose – but what we get is more questions and lingering doubts about Ryan’s sanity and Wilfred’s ambiguous existence. And why is Wilfred typing out his will?

I’m not easily spooked but I’ll be damned if I didn’t leave the light on and stay seated in bed rather than remain in my usual lounging position for watching TV. Was I freaked out? Um, yeah! I usually leave the TV on with any paranormal show and fall asleep without any issues but after watching “Emily the Imaginary Friend” and “Lost Girl,” it’s safe to say I was more than a bit hesitant to turn off the lights. I actually contemplated putting in an animated movie to settle my nerves.

Advance Review: Sons of Anarchy, Season 4 Premiere, Ep. 401 "Out" (Sex, Lies, and Retaliation) 6

After waiting nine months for the highly anticipated fourth season of this testosterone fueled series, I’ll be honest – I feel a little jipped. There are some great moments in “Out,” but overall the slow-paced episode feels very subdued and full of details to the point of overkill. What I love about Sons of Anarchy is the allure of mystery and dark secrets – something to riddle out, but “Out” is a bit too informative; and actually, it’s kind of boring in places. But, I’m a true fan of SOA and will not jump ship.

Haven continues to impress me with its unnerving approach to introducing a new “troubled” person each week. Of course, basing the series on “The Colorado Kid,” written by the master of horror himself, Stephen King, it’s no wonder some of these cases give me the chills. I really love this show! It’s absolutely fascinating to watch the “troubled” cases and try to figure out how the afflictions cause such mayhem. If you’re unfamiliar with the series or book, I will say if you haven’t seen many episodes, you are able to watch and still be captivated; however, there will be bits that will need some further explanations – like the mystery of Audrey’s (Emily Rose) background and who she really is.

Review: #WilfredFX , Season 1, Ep. 12 "Sacrifice" (Italian beauty, pot candy, and shots of toilet water) 9

“Sacrifice” opens on a gorgeous sunny day at the beach as Ryan, who is attempting to read a book, is severely distracted by a beautiful Italian woman, Cinzia (Gabriella Pession). She is the kind of woman who can help Ryan forget about his neighbor Jenna. However, with Wilfred doing an excellent job of cock-blocking, Ryan’s really having to rethink his obligations.

Cathy (Laura Linney) is worried about Lee’s (Hugh Dancy) health but helps him with a few things on his bucket list by getting him a bottle of wine and letting him cop a feel of her bare breasts. What are “mole-mates” for? And Sean (John Hickey) is not coping well with losing baby Cathy – he’s off his meds which makes him more vulnerable. Poppy (Parker Posey) and Adam (Gabriel Basso) continue to hang out but it’s a little weird when she takes him to her high school 1990 Class Reunion.

This year’s VMAs was a convoluted and irksome display of chaos heavily seasoned with bad ad-libs, terrible cue-card reading, and some intensely awkward moments that made me cringe and want to change the channel to avoid further discomfort. The whole night wasn’t lost, though. There were some tremendously entertaining performances by the ever graceful and talented Adele, who sang “Someone Like You,” and Beyonće belted out an inspired and soulful rendition of her song “Love on Top.”

“The Tides That Bind” bound me to my seat! From the moment the episode starts, with a group of young pre-adolescent boys standing on the edge of a dock staring into the water singing a chilling song, I am beyond curious – I am mesmerized. Along with more questions, I’m also more deeply invested in finding out what is actually going on. If you missed the episode, it was the second Twitter-infused episode – follow @davehaven and @vincehaven .

It looks like Wilfred and Ryan’s relationship isn’t so unique after all. Bruce (guest star Dwight Yoakam) seems to know a lot about Wilfred’s behavior. Bruce asks Ryan how well he really knows Wilfred which makes me wonder – why did Wilfred choose Ryan? Why is Ryan able to see a man in a dog suit while everyone else sees a dog?

Haven is fast becoming one of my favorite TV shows. Each week we are presented with a new and interesting affliction which causes even stranger events. “Audrey Parker’s Day Off” is exciting and engrossing. As I watch with eager anticipation of who will die next, I try to figure out the mystery of why the day is repeating. Seeing Audrey’s reactions to each of her friends’ death brings you a little closer to the characters.

Jenna thinks Ryan’s been on vacation because his blinds are closed and she hasn’t seen him in three days. Wilfred seems a bit perturbed by Ryan’s absence, thinking he’s avoiding him. And why does Ryan think he has to impress his neighbors? What’s the moral – be kind to your neighbors because never know when you’ll need them? And don’t get hand-jobs from heroin-addled bums…just don’t… period.

Review: #WilfredFX , Season 1, Ep 9 "Compassion" ("everybody's a little coo-coo") 18

While I enjoyed “Compassion,” it was a bit lackluster for me. I think Mary Steenburgen did a fantastic job of being the kooky mom but overall, the episode had only a few moments of ‘ha ha’ and not the usual ‘LOL! OMG! WTF!’ Of course, this episode has a grander purpose so I’ll excuse the shortage of guffaws.

“Roots” keeps me rooted to my seat! Mysterious disappearances, decades old family drama, greed, jealousy, humor, and sex – what more could you ask for? It’s also the first Twitter-integrated episode. As Audrey gets closer to Chris, Nathan is left alone in the barn…And who is Evi calling after Duke declines her offer to run away to Mexico?

Ryan is having a recurring dream about his childhood dog Sneakers; Wilfred vies for Kristen’s attention after Ryan mentions she hates him – and what says “I adore you” better than a dead rodent? And has Sneakers come back to avenge his death? I love the little morality lessons that are peppered into each episode of Wilfred.
