Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.

Family Sucks. Review: Justified – “Over the Mountain”

Family Sucks. Review: Justified – “Over the Mountain” 2

After the revelations in “Good Intentions,” it seems things are aligned perfectly for catastrophe to strike. The events that occur in “Over the Mountain” may not all be dire, most are life altering, some even life stopping. Who knew Dewey Crowe (Damon Herriman) could pull off such a convincing bluff? He’s still a terrible shot but I never thought of Dewey as a killer. And since this season is supposedly about the Crowes, it is refreshing to see them take center stage in “Over the Mountain.”

Silence of the Wesen. Review: Grimm – “The Wild Hunt”

Silence of the Wesen. Review: Grimm – “The Wild Hunt” 4

A deranged, cop killing Wesen, a $178 bottle of wine, some scalping, a proposal, and meeting the parents are just a few of the things happening in “The Wild Hunt.” Although this episode contains some intense scenes, ambiguity, and some disgusting events, I found myself getting a bit bored. I can’t pinpoint what is missing but I can say the slow progression of the season needs to speed up — sooner rather than later. It’s the very end of “The Wild Hunt” that will leave you in suspense.

Twist of Fate. Review: Sleepy Hollow – “The Indispensable Man” and “Bad Blood”

Twist of Fate. Review: Sleepy Hollow – “The Indispensable Man” and “Bad Blood” 6

Sleepy Hollow ends its first season with a jaw dropping cliffhanger I did not see coming. The twists and turns in this two-part season finale will have you scratching your head, trying to piece together clues from previous episodes. While there are a few elements that stand out a bit oddly for me, overall, I enjoyed the final two episodes.

A Hunting We Will Go. Review: Lost Girl – “Sleeping Beauty School”

A Hunting We Will Go. Review: Lost Girl – “Sleeping Beauty School” 7

As much as I love Lost Girl, “Sleeping Beauty School” leaves a lot to be desired. A filler episode, at best, there are only a few things that actually stand out for me. One — the rebirth of a Valkyrie; two – the Una Mens and their desire to possess Bo (Anna Silk); and lastly — the “death train.”

From the Mouths of Babes. Review: Justified – “The Kids Aren’t Alright”

From the Mouths of Babes. Review: Justified – “The Kids Aren’t Alright” 10

Women are causing some major issues in “The Kids Aren’t Alright.” From a young teen to full grown variety, seems like the men of Harlan, KY are getting an earful, and not all of it is pleasantries. “The Kids Aren’t Alright” is a good episode but it’s got a filler vibe to it. It sets up future episodes and provides some intriguing moments.

Demons and Skinny Jeans? Review: Sleepy Hollow – “Vessel” 11

After a seemingly long holiday break, Sleepy Hollow comes roaring back with a frightful and enthralling new episode, “Vessel.” Multiple demonic possessions and wardrobe changes are just the tip of this hellacious iceberg.

It Takes 3 To Tango? Retrospective: Lost Girl – “In Memoriam”

It Takes 3 To Tango? Retrospective: Lost Girl – “In Memoriam” 13

FAE-natics, the wait is over! Lost Girl is back and it’s sexy as ever. “In Memoriam” starts off a bit disconcerting. Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) is now Fae? After being human her entire life, how in the world does she possess Fae powers? Although, being able to shoot sparkles from your hands doesn’t seem that glamorous. That’s not the only thing that’s afoot; the absence of a key player, the beautiful and seductive Succubus Bo (Anna Silk), is profoundly obvious.

Disorganized Crime. Review: Justified – “A Murder of Crowes”

Disorganized Crime. Review: Justified – “A Murder of Crowes” 18

Justified comes back with a new season that’s fresh but still has that familiar feeling we’ve all come to know and love. “A Murder of Crowes” is chock full of dark humor, sarcasm, new characters, and lots of back stabbing, no good, old-fashioned double-crossing fun. “A Murder of Crowes” is a jolt of vitality for this tried and true show. Changing the scenery, adding dynamic characters, and injecting some intricate and sometimes complex story arcs are just what the doctor ordered.

A Lesson in Senses. Retrospective: Dracula – “Servant to Two Masters”

A Lesson in Senses. Retrospective: Dracula – “Servant to Two Masters” 19

After three weeks off, Dracula is back—biting, drawing blood, and making you pant for more sweet torture. “Servant to Two Masters” is wicked and enthralling—as if you’d expect anything less. Alexander Grayson (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) continues to test the boundaries of the improved daylight serum Professor Van Helsing (Thomas Kretschmann) is continuously perfecting; however, it’s Alexander’s abstinence…from feeding…that will prove to be more challenging.

Sins of the Past. Review: Grimm – “Red Menace”

Sins of the Past. Review: Grimm – “Red Menace” 20

Grimm comes back strong after a three week holiday, bringing us “Red Menace,” which is an engaging and perplexing episode. With a new kind of Wesen known as “Koschei” —a healer of sorts with roots tied to Russia—our would-be bad guy may not be so bad after all. We also get to meet a new character who seems to have an extended story arc, according to the previews.
