Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.

A baby on the way, a possible Wu-Mance, and finally learning about those darn keys – these are just a few of the things the cast and executive producers/writers talked about inside the Grimm press room as this year’s Comic-Con. Almost all the cast were present. Absent, of course, is Bitsie Tulloch who plays Juliette Siverton. If you remember, Juliette took an arrow to the heart at the end of season four, courtesy of Trubel, played by Jacqueline Toboni (also not in attendance). Check out our video interviews with Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, EPs/Writers/Director, David Giuntoli, and Russell Hornsby.

Video: iZombie – SDCC Press Room Interviews with EPs and the Cast 5

Going into this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, iZombie had already aired its first season finale, leaving fans wondering how things will play out in the upcoming second season. Normally, talking to executive producers is either informative and fun or painstakingly brutal. I absolutely adore Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggerio-Wright, both of whom are also writers on iZombie. Their fun chemistry and collaborative friendship lend to the smart, sarcastic, and entertaining dialogue the cast of the show gets to act out each week.

VIDEO: Interviews From CBS Press Room at SDCC – Limitless, Under the Dome, Scorpion 6

The CBS press room at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con could easily be described as a bit of a zoo; perhaps it’s a simple coincidence that Zoo is also the name of one of CBS’ new summer series. I don’t think I’ve ever been inside a press room that included so many different shows—Limitless, Under the Dome, Zoo, Scorpion, and Extant. While I didn’t get to talk to each show’s actors or even the executive producers, there were several interviews I did get that really impressed me, as follows.

The Strain Season Premiere – “BK, NY” Review. The Children of the Night.

The Strain Season Premiere – “BK, NY” Review. The Children of the Night. 9

After a seemingly failed attempt to destroy The Master (Robert Maillet) in the season one finale, “The Master,” our intrepid vampire hunters led by the elderly but wise Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) must figure out other ways to destroy these creatures, aka “Strigoi,” in order to stop The Master once and for all. As season two begins, the tone seems more desperate and angst ridden as CDC doctors Eph Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) try to use their skills to develop either a vaccine or cure for the disease plaguing New York. Meanwhile, our favorite Ukrainian exterminator, Vasiliy Fet (Kevin Durand), is ready to take his beloved city back, building by building if need be. In “BK, NY,” we get a history lesson, learning a great deal about how The Master came to be, and more about the mysterious group of Strigoi I refer to as the Strigoi SWAT team.

Penny Dreadful Season Finale – “And They Were Enemies” Review. Know Your Master.

Penny Dreadful Season Finale – “And They Were Enemies” Review. Know Your Master. 10

The climax to last week’s penultimate episode, “And Hell Itself My Only Foe,” comes hard and fast in Penny Dreadful’s game changing season two finale, “And They Were Enemies.” While I would have preferred the conclusion to the ultimate face-off between Vanessa (Eva Green) and her devil possessed doppelgänger doll to last a little longer, I appreciate the way series creator and writer John Logan ties things up swiftly. This allows him to utilize the remaining 45 minutes of “And They Were Enemies” to set up what can best be described as a cryptic third season to come. Our adventures, Vanessa, Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Ferdinand Lyle (Simon Russell Beale), must continue “moving forward,” and some must go on their journey alone.

Movies and Theme Parks = Summertime Fun!

Movies and Theme Parks = Summertime Fun! 11

Movies and summertime go hand-in-hand. Theme parks are cashing in on the trend by adding new attractions based on some of the biggest blockbusters like Jurassic Park, The Mummy, Despicable Me, Transformers, and now The Fast and the Furious. There’s even a huge television presence with The Simpsons ride. Theme parks like Universal Studios (Hollywood and Orlando) offer new, innovative, and technologically advanced rides to satiate thrill seekers. In my efforts to give an in depth review of these rides, I naturally had to go test them out for myself.

Penny Dreadful – “And Hell Itself My Only Foe” Review. Without Limits. 12

Penultimate episodes can catapult a series into the stratosphere, signaling an epic season finale to come, and that is exactly what “And Hell Itself My Only Foe” does. From the moment it begins until the shocking end, you find yourself on a dark roller coaster of emotions. With Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) in danger, Ferdinand Lyle (Simon Russell Beale) suggests to Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) and Sembene (Danny Sapani) that they quickly find Vanessa (Eva Green) and Ethan (Josh Hartnett) to help save him. Meanwhile, Lily (Billie Piper) and Dorian (Reeve Carney) explore the unique possibilities of their new friendship.

Penny Dreadful – “Memento Mori” Review. Luxurious Ugliness. 20

The camera pans down through a rain fogged window like a voyeur. As Lily (Billie Piper) exhibits peculiar behavior after her evening out away from Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), a strange realization washes over me – does Lily know who she really is? Meanwhile, Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) continues to grapple with the strangeness surrounding him as he tries to understand his lack of grief following his estranged wife Gladys’ (Noni Stapleton) suicide. “Momento Mori” is chock full of surprising twists and even more shocking revelations, one of which involves what Dorian (Reeve Carney) keeps in the mirrored room.

The city of Baltimore is laboring under the delusion that Granderson will save them but as we saw at end of the season one finale, “No Place Like Home,” she has ulterior motives that include plans for the cure.
