It’s been nearly six full months since the season six finale aired when we were left with the mother (no pun intended) of all cliffhangers – Bones/Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is pregnant and Booth (David Boreanaz) is the daddy!

[singlepic id=2277 w=320 h=240 float=left] Finally, the long awaited seventh season begins and we find our lovable couple in the midst of the second trimester and trying to split their time between each of their respective homes. Of course the logical decision would be to get a place together but Bones’ rationale regarding the current state of the market and how the Iroquois tribes did things (blah, blah, blah) – she thinks Booth should just move into her place. And the battle wages on. I love how these two interact with each other. The way Booth fawns over Bones in the kitchen and tries to be gallant at the crime scene wanting to carry the big heavy case for her. It’s, for a lack of a better word, totally freaking cute!

[singlepic id=2274 w=320 h=240 float=right] The pregnancy is taking its toll on Bones’ emotions – she actually cries at a crime scene! I love Angela’s (Michaela Conlin) assessment of it, “It’s sort of like an eclipse – it doesn’t happen often.” Booth thinks it’s fantastic and tries to take photos of her being so vulnerable. It’s hilarious how he tries to get photographic evidence of Bones in distressing situations throughout the episode. What’s even funnier is how much Angela wants to see a photo of Booth cooking an omelet…naked!

Bones: “Booth took a picture of me but since I have a picture of him cooking an omelet naked, he agreed never to show it to anyone.”

Angela: “I’m…I’m sorry…naked? Wow! Ok, listen, I am your best friend honey so I think I should take a peek at that…Is it the full figure?…I’m talking about the omelet shot.”

Angela is adorably endearing. I love her friendship with Bones and the evolution of it growing stronger as she continues to guide Bones through the trials and tribulations of life. I wonder if Angela is feeling a bit underwhelmed or unsatisfied in her marriage with Hodgins (TJ Thyne). Although, what woman – married or not – wouldn’t want to take a peek at Booth naked and in the kitchen no less…cooking! Please, sign me up! A hot, naked, handsome man cooking…ding ding ding! Jackpot! But let’s hope Angela isn’t getting too restless with Hodgins; I really do think they are a cute couple.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel once Booth and Bones finally got together but I think after six seasons of the subject being teased, the show will survive the dreaded Moonlighting curse. Bones has a huge fan base and at least 90% of the fans have been waiting on pins and needles for Bones and Booth to finally hook up! The fact that they finally, FINALLY say, “I love you” to each other is absolutely amazing! Of course, the writers haven’t overkilled their playful affections…yet. Throughout “The Memories in the Shallow Grave” the couple exchanges a few hugs, kisses and silly moments, but it isn’t done so gratuitously that you want to vomit. It’s endearing and I find myself giggling and saying ‘ooh- aah’ a lot. It’s mushy enough to appease fans who’ve waited with bated breath for these two to finally get together, but not so much that the rest would be rolling their eyes in disgust.

[singlepic id=2278 w=320 h=240 float=left] While I love watching the moments of Booth and Bones’ emerging relationship there is a case which needs to be solved yet, it isn’t very interesting to me. Tragic… yes, but I think the writers need to come up with more intensely intricate back stories for the victims in order to make them appealing. The case of the amnesiac woman who is then murdered seems a bit on the boring side. However, the way the team unravels clues to solve the case is outstanding…gross, but brilliantly done. I love how Hodgins talks to the nasty brain beetles like they were his pets. The show certainly doesn’t lack in providing realistic looking corpses and I’ll be honest, I wanted to vomit when Cam (Tamara Taylor) pulls the deceased victim’s brain out of the skull.

Angela brings baby Michael into the lab much to Cam’s chagrin but the power of the cuteness was starting to win. I like that Cam is still hard-nosed about keeping things business like and not caving into the supremely cute chubby cheeked baby. Like in real life, bringing a cute baby to the office is one thing but bringing one into a highly technical lab with very expensive equipment is quite another. But it’s sweet how Hodgins introduces baby Michael to his spiders.

I’m extremely happy to have Bones back each week to salivate over Booth, ooh and ahh over the relationship between the adorable couple, and to dive head first into more interesting cases. (Seriously writers, we need more interesting murders to solve!)

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
